The Sensor Scientist, R&D is responsible for complex sensor research and development activities, including novel sensor and membrane designs that support product development and innovation efforts. This role provides analysis, testing, and evaluation of complex sensor and system designs, sensor manufacturing processes and techniques, and patentable concepts. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of R&D and is part of the R&D Team located in New Brighton, MN and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Be a key participant of an interdisciplinary R&D team to develop novel sensor and membrane designs to support product development and innovation efforts. Provide analysis, testing, and evaluation of complex sensor and system designs, sensor manufacturing processes and techniques, and patentable concepts. Mentor and coach junior-level scientists. Provide robust design of experiments, interpretation, and presentation of data by creating clear and concise summary reports. Execute verification and validation of sensor constructions and provide technical expertise to support manufacturing. The essential requirements of the job include: 2+ years of relevant experience within the Medical Device or IVD industry is required. Expertise in statistical analysis software (JMP/Minitab, etc.) and/or methods is vital. Prior experience in biomedical or blood gas sensor design and development within R&D. Strong Problem Solving skills and ability to get plans into actions is required. Advanced Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, or equivalent; relevant experience may contribute toward the degree requirement. Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role Ability to travel occasionally (<10%), as needed, to support project, supplier, or manufacturing activities. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Strong problem-solving skills and experience translating plans into action. Expertise with electrochemistry. The annual salary range for this role is $95,000-$125,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
