Third Party Monitoring Lead
GlaxoSmithKline · UK – London – New Oxford Street
Job description
Third Party Monitoring Lead Business Introduction GSK remains committed to achieving bold commercial ambitions for the future. By 2031, we aim to deliver £40 billion in annual sales, leveraging our existing strong performance momentum to significantly increase our positive impact on the health of billions of patients globally. Our Ahead Together strategy is centred on early intervention to prevent and alter the course of disease, thereby protecting people and supporting healthcare systems. Our diverse portfolio consists of vaccines, specialty medicines, and general medicines. Through continuous innovation and a dedicated focus on scientific and technical excellence, we strive to develop and launch new, groundbreaking treatments that address critical health challenges. Position Summary The purpose of this role is to own and evolve GSK’s global Third Party Monitoring (TPM) strategy. The TPM Lead sets the global monitoring approach, translates monitoring outcomes into decision-ready insights, and ensures effective escalation and follow-up. Responsibilities Set and continually refine the global TPM strategy and coverage model, ensuring monitoring is risk-based, targeted, and progressively more continuous and technology-enabled. Own the global TPM schedule and prioritization logic, using centralized, data-driven decision making to focus reviews on the highest-risk third parties, activities, and geographies; define differentiated approaches for key third parties (e.g., Alliance Partners) as needed. Serve as the primary GSK point of accountability for TPM strategy and stakeholder engagement, building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Alliances, TPM Third party provider, ABAC, Procurement, and Third Party Risk Management) to align expectations, minimize friction, and drive timely action. Translate TPM results, themes, and external/internal risk signals into clear insights (including root causes, patterns, and trends) and provide decision support to Compliance and business leaders (options, trade-offs, and recommended actions). For key risks, define and drive follow-up actions with Business Owners and relevant third parties (including expectations to report back), enabling a practical form of continuous monitoring beyond point-in-time reviews. Provide strategic oversight and governance of TPM delivery performed by third-party providers, including scoping principles, quality expectations, escalation pathways, and handoffs between planning and execution. Drive GSK’s ownership of compliance judgment across the programme, including timely escalation of high-risk issues to appropriate governance forums (e.g., RMCBs or delegated bodies) and coordination of leadership communications as needed. Partner with Monitoring teams to manage scheduling constraints and TPM review escalations, and to integrate TPM insights with broader monitoring and risk insight routines, including reuse of learnings across markets and incorporation into thematic work where relevant. Drive continuous improvement of TPM methodology and ways of working (e.g., sharper scoping, streamlined information requests, and more effective reporting) to increase impact while reducing burden on markets and stakeholders. Track and report TPM program performance (e.g., coverage vs. risk, cycle time, action closure and effectiveness, repeat issue reduction) and use metrics to inform strategy updates and resource planning. Qualifications/SkillsBasic Qualifications: Significant experience in compliance monitoring/assurance, audit, investigations support, or third-party risk oversight, including designing risk-based review plans and applying professional judgment to ambiguous risk situations. Experience working with complex third-party ecosystems (e.g., alliances, outsourced operations, strategic suppliers) and partnering effectively with Procurement/TPRM and business owners. Demonstrated experience managing or governing work delivered by external providers (e.g., professional services firms), including setting expectations, assuring quality, and driving outcomes. Proven ability to synthesize findings and signals into actionable insights and to drive follow-up actions through governance and operating routines. Preferred Qualifications: Strong risk judgment and professional scepticism; able to retain independence while maintaining constructive, senior relationships. Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication skills; able to convert complex monitoring outcomes into clear narratives, options, and decisions. Strategic planning and program management capability, including portfolio prioritization, schedule governance, and performance measurement. Comfort working with data-informed prioritization and partnering with analytics/tech teams to evolve signal inputs and monitoring efficiency over time. Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrix environment and to influence across time zones, cultures, and functions. Work Location: This role is based at GSK HQ, London and offers a hybrid working model, combining on-site and remote work.
