Job Summary We are looking for a Global Trade & Customs Compliance professional to support cross-regional shipments and ensure goods move efficiently, compliantly, and at the lowest possible total cost. This role is responsible for applying established global trade processes and solutions across import and export activities, including tariff classification, customs valuation, Country of Origin determination, Free Trade Agreement qualification, Incoterms, duty management, and customs clearance documentation. The position will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with governmental regulations, prevent shipment delays, minimize duties and demurrage costs, and maintain strong service levels across international supply chains. Strong communication and stakeholder management are critical to success in this role. Key Responsibilities Manage and support cross-regional import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with applicable customs and international trade requirements. Perform and validate tariff classifications / Harmonized System (HS) codes for imported and exported goods. Determine and document Country of Origin (CoO) in accordance with applicable customs regulations and trade agreements. Apply appropriate customs valuation methodologies and support accurate calculation and payment of duties, taxes, and other import-related charges. Assess eligibility and qualification under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and special customs programs to identify duty optimization and cost-saving opportunities. Ensure compliance with applicable governmental regulations, import/export controls, and customs requirements. Apply and interpret Incoterms to clarify responsibilities, costs, and risks associated with international shipments. Prepare, review, and validate documentation required for customs clearance and international transportation. Partner with Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, Government Agencies, and other external service providers to resolve shipment and clearance issues. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Procurement, and other business teams, to ensure efficient execution of international shipments. Proactively identify and resolve customs clearance delays, documentation discrepancies, and other trade-related issues. Support initiatives to minimize duties, freight-related costs, detention, and demurrage charges while maintaining regulatory compliance. Maintain accurate trade documentation and records in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities to improve global trade processes, compliance, cost efficiency, and shipment execution. Job Qualifications Top Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional experience in Global Trade, Customs Compliance, Import/Export Operations, or International Logistics. Strong practical knowledge of tariff classification and HS codes. Experience with customs valuation and Country of Origin determination. Working knowledge of Free Trade Agreements and preferential trade programs. Strong understanding of customs regulations and international import/export compliance requirements. Knowledge and practical application of Incoterms within international shipment processes. Experience preparing, reviewing, or validating documentation required for customs clearance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively address shipment or customs clearance issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal stakeholders and external partners. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with trade documentation, classifications, and regulatory requirements. Nice to Have Experience working within a multinational or regional supply chain environment. Experience managing shipments or customs activities across multiple countries or regions. Knowledge of special customs programs, bonded operations, duty drawback, or other duty-saving mechanisms. Experience working directly with Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, and Government or Customs Authorities. Familiarity with trade compliance, customs, ERP, or logistics management systems. Experience identifying opportunities for duty optimization, cost reduction, and demurrage prevention. Knowledge of customs audits, recordkeeping requirements, or internal trade compliance controls. Experience participating in process improvement, standardization, or automation initiatives within Global Trade or Logistics. What we offer!
