Senior Software Engineer - CSP Voice Platform
Bloomberg
Job description
Our Team: Bloomberg connects clients around the world with the financial data, news, technology, and support they rely on to make critical business decisions. The CSP Voice Platform team builds and operates one of the key systems behind that connection: Bloomberg’s global voice and call center platform. Our systems handle approximately 2 million client calls each year, connecting Bloomberg clients with customer support teams around the world. When a client calls Bloomberg’s helpline, our Automated Call Distribution platform welcomes them, identifies what they need, and routes them to the right person for help. Our platform also enables Bloomberg engineering teams to develop voice-enabled applications for use cases such as login validation, automated outage notifications and on-call updates. We build the APIs, services, and infrastructure that allow other teams to integrate voice capabilities into their products. We also build data pipelines and analytics capabilities that turn millions of client interactions into actionable insights, helping our customer support teams improve operations and better understand how clients use Bloomberg. Our systems operate globally, 24x7, and sit directly in the path between Bloomberg and its clients. They need to remain available through infrastructure failures, traffic spikes, deployments, and unexpected events. You'll work on distributed systems where reliability, observability, scalability, and thoughtful architecture have an immediate and visible impact. If you enjoy solving complex systems problems, building platforms used by both clients and other engineers, and taking ownership of the full project life cycle, from an idea through production release, we'd love to talk to you. What’s In It For You? Build systems with direct client impact. The software you build helps connect millions of client calls with Bloomberg support teams around the world. Solve challenging distributed systems problems. Design for high availability, fault tolerance, scalability, observability, and 24x7 operation. Own meaningful problems end to end. Work from understanding client and business needs through architecture, implementation, deployment, and production ownership. Shape the future of our platform. Help evolve our architecture, APIs, engineering practices, and approach to building voice-enabled applications. Work across a broad technical landscape. Build backend services, real-time workflows, APIs, data pipelines, and platform infrastructure. Grow and help others grow. Join a collaborative engineering team that values technical curiosity, thoughtful design, knowledge sharing, and mentorship. You'll need to have: 5+ years of experience designing and building large-scale, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems 5+ years of experience working with an object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java/Kotlin or Python A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent professional experience Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering practical, maintainable solutions A passion for ownership, reliability, and building systems that users depend on A drive to continuously improve systems, processes, and the overall engineering experience We'd love to see: Ability to deeply understand and break down complex, ambiguous problems and communicate efficiently Sense of product ownership by partnering with our business and product stakeholders to drive the vision forward Experience in mentoring junior engineers and breaking down silos across the group Experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring/Micronaut/Quarkus Experience with Cisco Telephony API or JTAPI or SIP Salary Range = 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting.
