Make your mark for patients We are looking for a Field Access Specialist to join us in our Market Access, Access and Reimbursement team, based in the territory of Upstate New York including Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse, New York. About the role The priority of the Field Access Specialist (FAS) is to support timely and successful patient access to prescribed UCB medications by engaging with Healthcare providers to provide appropriate education to navigate payer barriers. This role is critical in bridging the gap between the prescriber’s clinical decision and actual patient treatment initiation. For a UCB Field Access Specialist (FAS), no two days are ever the same. Who you’ll work with The FAS provides support to all sites of care on local, regional and national payer coverage, pharmacy benefits and Payer policies for UCB Immunology medicines. FAS’s will interact with all engaged sites of care, which include private practices, group practices, Academic Medical Centers, Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) with Dermatology departments and associated Specialty Pharmacies, Integrated Health Systems with Dermatology departments and associated Specialty Pharmacies, Private Equity and Venture Capital Backed Dermatology Groups and any other sites of care within their assigned geography. The UCB FAS is a non-promotional functional role reporting into the UCB Market Access, Access and Reimbursement Department. What you’ll do FAS supports all Dermatology accounts who prescribe UCB medicines with an enhanced focus on New Account experiences towards positive account and patient experiences. FAS educates and partners with office staff to embed functional processes inside the office and seeks continual operational improvements towards patient care. FAS monitors data dashboards and maintains close communication with internal and external partners to intervene in escalated cases where an individual patient’s access to medicine is at risk. Cases are escalated via office staff, Field Alerts, CAS partners, or SP partners. FAS works closely and communicates with the HUB case managers to ensure that accounts and patients are fully supported. Ensure patients are on track to receive their medicine. The FAS monitors HUB cases to ensure that authorizations, appeals, and shipments are in line with expectations and requirements and milestone deadlines are met. Identify operational issues needing attention. Partner for smooth bridge to commercial SP transition. FAS partners internally with the SP NAE team to escalate situations and cases requiring intervention at the SP, while also taking swift action on SP requests for field support on patient cases. The FAS will also interact with the external SP account manager towards supporting patient care when requested by an office. FAS can educate and support IDN/Academic SPs to ensure internal processes lead to patients receiving their UCB medicine. FAS communicates and collaborates with multiple internal stakeholders, including Regional Sales Leads (RSL), District Sales Leads (DSL) and several Clinical Account Specialists (CAS) daily to ensure that offices are supported. FAS also collaborates with peers on the Field Access team to solve problems or escalate payer-related issues. FAS leads field-based initiatives when payer changes affect a local, regional, or national market. These changes could include positive changes that enhance patient access, or negative changes that adversely affect patients. The FAS educates accounts on the changes and what steps can be taken to ensure patients are cared for. Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following Minimum requirements Bachelor's Degree 8+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical or related fields of: Market Access-related positions Sales, Sales Leadership, Learning and Development/Training, Medical Affairs (MSL), Thought Leader Liaison (TLL), Marketing, Patient Services, Account Management or reimbursement and/or patient access experience within a Specialty Pharmacy, Academic Medical Centers/IDNs, Hub Service Vendors, or healthcare provider settings 4 years of experience in Coverage/Access, Reimbursement, or Account Management or equivalent experience in related healthcare, pharmaceutical, or payer environments Must have a valid US Driver’s License and with no more than 3 moving violations in the past 2 years Must reside within assigned territory. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Dermatology, Rare Diseases, Oncology, Immunology, or other therapeutic areas requiring advanced medical knowledge and complex medical treatment support. Familiarity with HUB services for patient referrals, benefit verification, coverage, and affordability for specialty and biologic medications Demonstrated ability to navigate complex healthcare systems, manage stakeholder relationships, and drive access solutions. Strong understanding of U.S. and State regulatory environments, including evolving payer coverage, access, and reimbursement practices. Project Management experience is a plus. Knowledge of the US payer and reimbursement systems, including commercial insurers, Pharmacy Benefits Managers, Specialty Pharmacies, Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) policies, especially Medicare Parts B and D, Medicaid (fee for service and managed). This position reasonably anticipated base salary range is $122,600-176,400k. The actual salary offered will take into account related knowledge, skills, experience and location among other factors and may fall outside the expected range.
