Job Description Manager, Legal (VAS & South Asia | India & South Asia): Team Summary: The Visa India & South Asia Legal team manages Visa’s legal affairs across the India & South Asia region. The team provides advice and support to ensure business objectives are achieved while protecting Visa’s brand and reputation and minimizing legal, regulatory and commercial risk. The team partners closely with business functions across Visa’s payments, technology and value-added services businesses and operates in a fast-moving, highly regulated and innovation-driven environment. What a Manager, Legal (VAS & South Asia) does at Visa: This position is for a commercially minded lawyer to join Visa’s growing legal team and provide primary legal support for Visa’s Value Added Services (VAS) and South Asia businesses. The role will support a broad range of businesses and products, including CyberSource, Pismo, Featurespace, Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA), and other network-agnostic and services-led offerings, while also acting as the lead legal contact for Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. The position will be based in Mumbai and will report to the Senior Managing Counsel, India & South Asia. We are looking for a strong commercial lawyer with excellent communication and analytical skills who is self-motivated, able to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision, and capable of partnering effectively with business teams and support functions across all levels of the organization. In this role, you are expected to: Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to VAS, VCA and South Asia business teams regarding deal structures, product initiatives, commercial arrangements and regulatory matters. Serve as a trusted partner to business stakeholders and support the continued growth of Visa’s services-led businesses across the cluster. Draft, negotiate and manage complex technology, SaaS, consulting, data, licensing, outsourcing, strategic partnership and commercial agreements. Support RFP responses, new product launches, strategic initiatives, acquisitions-related integrations and go-to-market activities. Advise on legal, regulatory, privacy, data governance, intellectual property and risk management issues affecting VAS offerings. Provide legal support for all business activities across Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, including product, commercial, regulatory and operational matters. Work effectively with regional and global legal, compliance, privacy, tax, risk and government engagement teams. Support process improvement, template development and self-service contracting initiatives. Perform such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the India & South Asia Legal leadership team. Why this is important to Visa: This role provides dedicated legal support to one of Visa’s fastest-growing business segments and ensures that legal support scales appropriately with increasing transaction volumes, commercial complexity, regulatory developments and cross-border expansion. The role will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, support strategic revenue-generating initiatives and help maintain a strong regulatory and risk management framework across India and South Asia. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. Qualifications What you will need: Qualified to practice law in India. Approximately 5 - 8 years of post-qualification legal experience for a Manager role. Strong corporate and commercial law experience gained at a top-tier law firm or multinational organization. Experience drafting and negotiating complex technology, commercial and strategic partnership agreements. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Sound commercial judgment and risk assessment skills. Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills. Strong analytical ability and problem-solving capability. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a matrixed organization. Interest in technology, digital commerce, fintech and payments. What will also help: Experience supporting technology, SaaS, fintech, consulting or data-driven businesses. Familiarity with privacy, data protection, regulatory, outsourcing and intellectual property issues. Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional business operations. Prior exposure to South Asia markets and international commercial transactions.
