Job description
Provide electrical safety expertise supporting the design and deployment of new hardware, facilities, systems, equipment, and machinery. Leads ambiguous, cross-region electrical safety problems to resolution; sets technical direction for program content and standards. Influences design/operations stakeholders through data, risk framing, and practical engineering controls. Review electrical design artifacts relevant to safety: one-lines, protection/coordination intent, equipment room access/clearance impacts, and maintainability constraints Perform Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) process safety risk assessments for existing facilities, new facility designs, and emerging technologies. Apply process safety and hazard analysis methodologies (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, etc.) to identify hazards, evaluate risk, and recommend effective controls. Develop, implement, and continuously improve global EHS programs to reduce process and operational safety risk. Partner with datacenter engineering teams to integrate technical safety considerations into designs and enable safe operation of facilities and infrastructure. Analyze EHS performance metrics and indicators to identify trends, prioritize risk‑reduction opportunities, and inform program improvements. Perform workplace risk and exposure assessments across electrical, mechanical, and operational hazard categories. Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and identification, communication, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Embody our culture and values. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics with significant, demonstrated electrical engineering experience, including work with power systems, electrical design, or electrical safety in complex environments, related field AND 4+ years experience in environmental health and safety worldwide Regulations OR equivalent experience. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics with significant, demonstrated electrical engineering experience, including work with power systems, electrical design, or electrical safety in complex environments. 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical safety, or power systems engineering in datacenter, industrial, or other complex infrastructure environments, including demonstrated experience reviewing electrical systems, conducting electrical hazard risk assessments, and recommending engineering and operational controls. Demonstrated expertise in electrical safety, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and control design for electrical systems, equipment, and high‑energy infrastructure. This includes medium-voltage / high-energy distribution, switchgear, UPS, battery rooms/energy storage, generators, commissioning/maintenance interface, Demonstrated experience applying applicable electrical safety regulations and standards—including NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety requirements (including 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S), and IEEE 1584—to electrical design reviews, hazard assessments, and operational risk reduction. Working knowledge of process hazard analysis (PHA) and risk assessment methodologies (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, What‑If, FMEA, or equivalent) applied to engineering and operational risk. Experience translating technical electrical and process safety risks into practical, implementable recommendations for engineering and operational stakeholders. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and technical communication skills, with the ability to influence safety outcomes through collaboration rather than authority. Experience supporting safety in complex, high‑energy infrastructure environments, such as datacenters, industrial facilities, or mission‑critical systems. PE (Electrical) or equivalent registration Professional certification or registration in electrical safety, safety engineering, or an EHS‑related discipline. 5+ years of experience performing process safety and/or EHS risk assessments, including application of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and risk management tools. Additional degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Experience influencing design and safety outcomes through cross‑functional collaboration in global organizations.
