Job description

The Red Hat Lightspeed Core team is looking for an Intern interested in generative AI and software engineering to join us in Brno, Czechia. In this role, you will contribute to the development of a common framework that enables teams at Red Hat to quickly and easily add virtual conversational assistants to Red Hat products. You’ll help with the design, implementation, and testing of bug fixes and new features for our generative AI client framework. As an intern, you’ll develop and test code and also engage with our broader ecosystem of product teams which build enterprise-grade conversational assistants on top of our framework. This long-term internship will give you the opportunity to gain experience in modern AI technologies and understand how they fit in an enterprise environment that requires stability, security and compliance - none of which are native to the AI world today. You will learn about Large Language Models (LLMs), the complexities of their nuanced APIs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), leverage interactions with external tools such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and more by working on a high-profile project in a fast-paced environment. At Red Hat, you’ll work in an environment that welcomes diverse perspectives, values great ideas, and empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully. Freedom and courage are two of our core values — which means you’ll have the space to take risks, explore the unknown, and grow your strengths. But being a Red Hatter is not just about bravery; it’s also about commitment and follow-through. Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid, part-time internship based in the Brno office, with flexible working hours. The expected start date is February 2027. What you will do: Participate in technical discussions, cross-team collaboration, and the day-to-day development of our generative AI client framework. Work on developing, testing, and optimizing software components of the framework. Contribute to open source initiatives that help Red Hat customers and the community become self-sufficient in deploying virtual assistants. What you will bring: You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Czech Republic during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us part-time from February 2027 till January 2028 Working knowledge of written and spoken English Experience with programming in Python or Go Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) infrastructure, containers, and Linux environments A highly collaborative mindset and the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly distributed environment A strong eagerness to learn about artificial intelligence, machine learning, and building scalable platforms Prior participation in open source software projects is a plus Due to the limited number of internship opportunities and the high volume of applications, we may not be able to speak with every candidate. To maximize your chances of moving forward in the process, please ensure your CV clearly outlines your education, relevant projects (link to your git.hub account), and extracurricular activities. Please apply for a maximum of three internship roles that best match your interests and skills.
