Educational Background • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Industrial Engineering. Professional Experience • Industry Tenure: 3 to 4 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, specifically working with Tier-1 or OEM supplier quality functions. • Foundry Domain Expertise: At least 2–3 years of direct hands-on experience in aluminium casting processes (e.g., High-Pressure Die Casting [HPDC], Low-Pressure Die Casting [LPDC], or Gravity/Sand Casting). • Machining Intersect: Proven track record verifying the machining and surface treatments of cast components (e.g., casting vessels/housing, conductive conductors). Technical & Casting-Specific Skills • Defect Diagnostics: Deep knowledge of casting defect root-cause analysis (e.g., diagnosing and eliminating porosity, cold shuts, shrinkage cavity, and gas inclusions). • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T): Mastery of GD&T principles to accurately interpret engineering drawings and evaluate tight tolerances on complex cast surfaces. • Metrology Tools: Hands-on proficiency with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Video Measuring Machines (VMM), profile projectors, and standard inspection instruments (micrometers, calipers). • Metallurgical Testing: Familiarity with on-site evaluation equipment like spectrometers (for alloy composition verification) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as X-ray and ultrasonic testing. Quality Frameworks & Certifications • Industrial Standards: Working knowledge of ISO 9001, or VDA 6.3 quality management systems. • Core Quality Tools (Five Core Tools): Expert execution of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), and MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis). • Problem-Solving Methodologies: Demonstrated capability utilizing 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams, and DMAIC for resolving major supplier non-conformances. • Professional Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is highly preferred.
