Your Job Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Planning Superintendent to lead the mill's maintenance planning and scheduling process and drive excellence in the Asset Maintenance Work Process (AMWP). This role is responsible for developing planning and scheduling capability, improving work execution readiness, driving standardization, and ensuring maintenance resources are focused on the highest-value work. The Planning Superintendent provides leadership and direction for planners and maintenance systems resources while partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Stores, and Purchasing to improve safety, reliability, cost competitiveness, and overall mill performance. The successful candidate will build organizational capability by creating disciplined planning processes, improving work package quality, strengthening scheduling practices, and coaching teams on effective work management behaviors. What You Will Do Planning & Scheduling Leadership • Lead the mill's maintenance planning and scheduling process. • Develop and coach planners to improve planning effectiveness and execution quality. • Establish and maintain planner standard work, expectations, and performance measures. • Drive consistency in planning practices across all operating areas. • Ensure weekly schedules are realistic, executable, and aligned with business priorities. • Support maintenance supervisors and operations leaders in improving schedule adherence. Asset Maintenance Work Process (AMWP) • Serve as a key leader in AMWP governance and process improvement. • Improve work screening, prioritization, planning, readiness, scheduling, execution feedback, and closeout quality. • Ensure planning resources focus on high-value work that improves reliability and reduces losses. • Drive backlog health and ensure work is appropriately scoped, prioritized, and planned. • Facilitate continuous improvement of maintenance work processes. Work Package Excellence • Improve quality and consistency of work packages. • Ensure plans include labor estimates, materials, tooling, safety requirements, craft requirements, permits, procedures, and technical documentation. • Expand use of reusable job plans and planning libraries. • Drive field feedback into future job plan improvements. • Improve outage work packages and shutdown readiness. Planning Readiness & Material Management • Partner with Stores and Purchasing to improve readiness of planned work. • Improve BOM accuracy, material linkage, and critical spare identification. • Support CatID development and inventory governance efforts. • Participate in SLOB reviews and disposition decisions for obsolete or excess inventory. • Drive improvements in material availability for planned work. Reliability & Continuous Improvement • Partner with Reliability Engineers to improve asset performance. • Support development and improvement of preventive maintenance strategies. • Utilize failure history and planning feedback to eliminate recurring losses. • Participate in RCFA and reliability improvement initiatives. • Ensure planning resources support precision maintenance and best practices. Outage & Turnaround Planning • Lead planning readiness for outages and major shutdowns. • Ensure outage scopes are planned, scheduled, resourced, and material-ready. • Coordinate planning resources to support outage execution. • Drive post-outage reviews and incorporation of lessons learned. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) • High School Diploma or GED. • Seven or more years of industrial maintenance experience. • Three or more years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, supervision, reliability, maintenance leadership, or technical services. • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling principles. • Experience utilizing CMMS/EAM systems. • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive organizational chang e. What Will Put You Ahead • Experience leading maintenance planning organizations. • Experience with GP Asset Suite, SAP PM, Maximo, Infor EAM, or similar systems. • Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing. • Knowledge of Asset Maintenance Work Process (AMWP). • Experience leading outage planning and execution. • Demonstrated success improving planner productivity and schedule compliance. • Experience with material management, BOM governance, inventory optimization, and storeroom operations. • Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, and work management performance metrics.
