Job description

Company Description Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. We build, power, and evolve the tools and technologies that connect millions of entrepreneurs with millions of buyers around the world. As an Etsy employee, you will tackle unique, meaningful, and large-scale problems alongside passionate coworkers, all the while making a rewarding impact and Keeping Commerce Human. We believe exceptional companies are built by exceptional teams, and we're intentional about it. That means hiring great people, setting them up for success from day one, and giving them real reasons to grow their careers here. We invest in development that goes beyond promotions, and we foster the trust and relationships that help people do their best work together. What’s the Role? Etsy is looking for a Principal Recruiter to hire for our Product Design, Product Management, and UX Research teams. You will partner closely with leaders across the organization to attract, assess, and close the craft-driven talent who shape how millions of buyers and sellers experience Etsy. You’ll bring a point of view on these markets, build deep talent pipelines, and deliver an inclusive, high-touch candidate experience. This is a full time role reporting to the Manager of Recruiting. What’s this team like at Etsy? We’re a team of recruiters that is working to evolve how Etsy works as a Product and are looking to add a Principal Recruiter to work on our Product Design, Product Management, and UX Research roles at Etsy. You would work closely with Senior Leadership across multiple functions within the business and are expected to be a strategic thought partner and leader. What does the day-to-day look like? Partner with hiring managers and leaders across Design, Product Management, and Research to define role requirements, hiring strategy, and interview plans, and to set realistic timelines. Run full-cycle recruiting from intake through offer close, with strong closing skills for senior and high-demand candidates. Proactively source passive talent through LinkedIn Recruiter, portfolio and community platforms (such as Behance, Dribbble, and ADPList), design and product communities, events, and referrals. Conduct talent mapping and market research on competitors, compensation trends, and emerging skills in product design, product management, and UX research, and share those insights with stakeholders. Assess candidates for craft and impact, including portfolio and case-study reviews, product sense, and research methodology, and coach interviewers to evaluate these consistently. Build and maintain a pipeline of talent for future needs through relationship building and community engagement. Champion inclusive hiring practices, including diverse slates, structured interviews, and bias-aware evaluation. Use data (pipeline metrics, funnel conversion, time-to-fill) to report on progress, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve the process. Mentor fellow recruiters and contribute to team-wide recruiting programs, processes, and best practices. Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy’s discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law. Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are: Deep experience recruiting for Design, Product Management, and/or UX Research roles, including senior and leadership-level hires. A consultative, trusted-advisor approach: you push back with data, influence senior stakeholders, and align them on a shared hiring strategy. Creative, persistent sourcing skills with a track record of building pipelines of passive candidates, not just working inbound applicants. Strong craft literacy: you can tell a great portfolio, product case study, or research readout from a good one, and you can speak credibly with candidates about their work. Exceptional closing ability and a polished, empathetic candidate experience from first outreach through offer. Comfort with ambiguity and ownership: you manage a busy, multi-req portfolio, prioritize well, and drive results without heavy oversight. A data-informed mindset, using metrics and market insights to guide decisions and tell the story of your pipeline. A commitment to inclusive hiring and a genuine curiosity about Etsy’s mission and marketplace. Compensation & Benefits In addition to salary, you'll be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family. Base salary is determined by your location, skills, and experience. Etsy uses two geographic pay zones to reflect the labor markets where we compete for talent: one called Geo-1, covering the New York City metropolitan area, San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle metropolitan area, and one called Geo-2, covering all other U.S. locations. Salary ranges for this role vary by zone and are listed below. Location We prioritize candidates based within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office. Depending on proximity, we ask team members to come in once or twice per week. Remote candidates outside commutable distance may be considered on a case-by-case basis, with the expectation of occasional travel to the office. Salary Range: • Geo-1: 152,000.00 - 206,000.00 USD Annual • Geo-2: 137,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual What's Next If you're interested in joining the team at Etsy, please share your resume with us and feel free to include a cover letter if you'd like. As we hope you've seen already, Etsy is a place that values individuality and variety. We don't want you to be like everyone else -- we want you to be like you! So tell us what you're all about. Our Promise At Etsy, we believe that a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace furthers relevance, resilience, and longevity. We encourage people from all backgrounds, ages, abilities, and experiences to apply.
