Architect – Architecture Advisory & Technology Enablement (m/f/d)
Siemens
Job description
Siemens Global Business Services (GBS) enables Siemens units worldwide and external customers to accelerate their business transformation into a sustainable and digital future. Our portfolio comprises services driven by expertise and the latest technology – with a strong focus on innovation and digitalization in areas like Finances, Business Administration, Human Resources, Procurement, Sales and After-Sales. In our GBS Western Europe and Africa Hub we are already more than 1500 connected people, from over 50 different nationalities spread across 14 countries. If you value diversity and innovation, you’ll feel right at home here! Discover our purpose, culture, and what makes GBS unique! Are you ready to be part of the change? Come join us! ⭐ The GBS Digital Solutions (DS) Enterprise Architecture team, part of Governance, Cybersecurity & Integration (GCI), sets the architecture direction for GBS. We enable, facilitate and govern, working with the business lines and delivery teams rather than apart from them. Our goal is simple: decide faster, and apply the right technology to each use case. We are looking for a Senior Architect focused on architecture advisory and technology enablement. You will be the architecture counterpart for new, cross-domain and strategically relevant demands, from the first idea to the decisions that shape delivery. Who are we looking for? An experienced architect with an enterprise architecture mindset who still has their hands on real implementation. You think strategically, but you know what it takes to build and run a solution, and where the trade-offs and pain points are. You are comfortable challenging technology choices, explaining the reasoning in business terms, and building alignment across stakeholders. You focus on high-value, cross-cutting initiatives, not routine delivery work. What role will you play? • Complex demands: Take ownership of new, cross-domain, innovative or strategically relevant demands, from first assessment to a clear architecture recommendation. • Technology direction: Analyse complex use cases and propose the technology and solution approach, balancing business value, cost, risk and time to market. Present options and a recommendation to the lead Enterprise Architect and stakeholders. • Make/buy/reuse: Lead make/buy/reuse assessments for strategic and cross-domain cases, including platform and vendor evaluations, and identify reuse and duplication across GBS. • Business line counterpart: Act as the architecture contact for one or more GBS business lines, translating their priorities into technology proposals and roadmap input. • Standards and target architecture: Contribute to defining and evolving enterprise standards, principles and the target architecture, based on what you see in real initiatives. • Strategic initiatives: Support high-value initiatives at key decision points, working with delivery teams and solution architects without becoming the solution architect for every project. • Challenge and alignment: Challenge technology choices constructively and build alignment across domains and stakeholders before decisions are taken. • Community and mentoring: Contribute to the GBS Architecture Community and support architects in the community. • Technology insight: Bring market and emerging technology knowledge (e.g. GenAI and agentic AI, cloud, data, low-code, automation) into recommendations. What do you bring? • University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience. • 8+ years in IT, including at least 5 years in architecture roles (enterprise, solution or domain), ideally in large or global organizations. • Proven track record of setting technology direction for new use cases, from concept through to implementation. • Hands-on experience with technology selection and make/buy/reuse assessments, including platform and vendor evaluation. • Broad technology knowledge across cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure), data platforms (e.g. Snowflake), integration patterns, low-code (e.g. Mendix, Power Platform), ServiceNow, automation and AI/GenAI, with depth in at least one domain. • Solid understanding of enterprise architecture practice and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF). Experience with LeanIX is a plus. • Real delivery exposure: you understand implementation trade-offs, operations and total cost of ownership. • Strong stakeholder skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in business terms and influence senior leadership. • A pragmatic, decision-oriented approach and comfort working with ambiguity and changing priorities. • Excellent English, written and spoken. Other languages are a plus. What We Offer: Belong & Innovate: Work in diverse teams where every idea matters and innovation grows through collaboration and trust. Flexibility that Works: Hybrid model, flexible hours, and a home office budget — because balance fuels performance. Health & Well-being: Comprehensive health insurance, mental health support, and active sports communities to keep you feeling your best. Grow Without Limits: Access world-class learning platforms, mentoring, and continuous development opportunities. Purpose & Perks: Contribute to sustainability and volunteer initiatives, enjoy partner discounts, and take advantage of our convenient shuttle service.
