Field HR Generalist
Phillips Medisize
Job description
Your Role Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) company, is seeking a Field HR Generalist to support field construction operations across west Texas and southeastern New Mexico. This role will partner directly with Construction Managers, site leaders, and field supervisors to strengthen workforce readiness, supervisor effectiveness, talent decisions, and employee relations in a project-driven EPC environment. This is a field-facing role for an HR professional who wants to stay close to the work. The successful candidate will build credibility through consistent site presence, understand the realities of project execution, and adjust support as projects mobilize, ramp up, transition, and demobilize. The ideal location is the Midland/Odessa area, with consideration for candidates near Carlsbad, New Mexico, who can travel among project sites as business needs and project timelines change. This non-exempt role is eligible for overtime pay and requires flexibility to work additional hours as business and project needs require. Work schedules and overtime needs may vary throughout the project lifecycle, particularly during mobilization, ramp-up, transitions, and demobilization. What You'll Do Partner directly with Construction Managers, general superintendents, field supervisors, and project leadership to connect workforce and talent decisions to safety, quality, schedule, productivity, cost, and project outcomes. Build a regular field presence and practical operating cadence across assigned sites, adjusting time and attention based on project phase, workforce scale, leadership capability, labor conditions, and business risk. Coach field leaders to set clear expectations, provide timely feedback, address performance and conduct issues, and take appropriate ownership of day-to-day people leadership. Support project mobilization, ramp-up, workforce transitions, and demobilization, including staffing plans, onboarding readiness, talent movement, communications, and retention of critical capability. Advise Construction Managers and field leaders on workforce considerations during project mobilization, ramp-up, transitions, and demobilization, including staffing needs, onboarding readiness, talent movement, employee communications, and retention risks. Partner with leaders on talent selection, development, succession, and deployment for pivotal field roles, including construction leadership and craft-adjacent positions. Navigate employee relations matters and workplace investigations with sound judgment, consistency, appropriate urgency, and alignment with company expectations. Help leaders strengthen crew culture, communication, accountability, and employee engagement while reinforcing a safe, respectful, and principle-based work environment. Partner with Recruiting, Total Rewards, HR Operations, Legal, Compliance, and other HR capabilities to deliver coordinated solutions that work in a field environment. Distinguish between work that requires HR judgment and work that should remain with field leaders or site administration, helping build supervisor capability rather than creating dependency on HR. Share lessons and workforce insights across projects so OPD can improve mobilization, leadership readiness, talent pipelines, and repeatable field practices. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) HR Generalist or similar role supporting an operational or field-based workforce Experience coaching managers or frontline supervisors Independently handle employee relations matters and investigations with support from leveraged capability SME’s Willingness to work in the field and travel among project sites What Will Put You Ahead EPC, self-perform construction, energy, industrial, or project-based experience Project mobilization, workforce ramp-up/ramp-down, or employee deployment experience West Texas, Permian Basin, or southeastern New Mexico workforce experience Experience supporting Inflation Reduction Act prevailing-wage and apprenticeship compliance requirements on construction projects What Success Looks Like Construction Managers and field supervisors view the HRBP as a credible partner who understands project realities and helps them make better workforce decisions.
