IBM iSeries AS400 L3 Administrator / Application Support Engineer Platform Modernization Experience in: IBM i OS upgrades Power Systems migrations (Power9 to Power10) PowerHA/MIMIX Disaster Recovery drills High Availability solution implementation and testing Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently and lead critical incident resolution. Strong documentation and knowledge management capabilities. Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Provide Level 3 support for IBM iSeries (AS/400) environments and resolve complex technical issues. Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance, capacity, and availability. Perform OS upgrades, PTF installations, system maintenance, and version management. Execute and validate system backups, IPL activities, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery testing. Administer system security, user profiles, access controls, and auditing processes. Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, middleware, and application-related issues. Support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions. Coordinate with application, DBA, network, storage, and infrastructure teams during deployments and change activities. Participate in major incident management and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical issues. Create and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles. Participate in on-call support and handle critical production incidents. Skill Requirements Required Skills & Experience Core Technical Skills 6+ years of experience in IBM iSeries (AS/400) administration and support. Strong expertise in IBM i Operating System administration. Deep knowledge of: CL Programming Subsystems Job Management System Journaling Performance Monitoring and Tuning Experience with job scheduling and automation tools such as Robot Scheduler or equivalent. Strong understanding of AS400 security administration and compliance controls. Experience in backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery procedures. Infrastructure & HA/DR Expertise Hands-on experience with: BRMS (Backup Recovery and Media Services) HMC (Hardware Management Console) VIOS (Virtual I/O Server) Remote System Management Knowledge of storage management and IBM Power Systems infrastructure. Experience with: IBM FlashSystem Storage PowerHA FlashCopy Toolkit Global Mirroring LUN-level Switching Mimix Replication Platform Modernization Experience in: IBM i OS upgrades Power Systems migrations (Power9 to Power10) PowerHA/MIMIX Disaster Recovery drills High Availability solution implementation and testing Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently and lead critical incident resolution. Strong documentation and knowledge management capabilities. Other Requirements Preferred Qualifications IBM Power Systems certifications are desirable. Experience supporting large-scale enterprise production environments. Exposure to ITIL processes, change management, and incident management frameworks. Ideal Candidate Profile An experienced AS400 professional capable of independently managing production-critical IBM i environments, driving high availability and disaster recovery initiatives, resolving complex incidents, and supporting modernization efforts across Power Systems infrastructure.
