agricultural solutions Local Cross-Category Buyer(JG4/JG5) Location:Japan,Tokyo About the Role As a Local Cross-Category Buyer, you will execute procurement strategies at the site level while ensuring alignment with global procurement objectives. This role focuses exclusively on Indirect Procurement. Within Indirect Procurement, the workload is expected to be split roughly evenly between Services and Materials, with a slightly greater emphasis on the Services category. Working closely with business stakeholders, operations teams, and suppliers, you will contribute to cost optimization, supply reliability, and procurement compliance. You will support sourcing activities, supplier relationship management, and the implementation of procurement initiatives that drive operational efficiency and business value. A key aspect of this role is leading supplier negotiations and competitive tender processes to secure the best commercial outcomes. Through effective sourcing strategies, market analysis, and stakeholder engagement, you will identify opportunities to deliver sustainable cost savings, mitigate supply risks, and create measurable value for the business. In addition, the role and responsibilities will be determined according to the successful candidate's experience and the corresponding job grade level. Key Responsibilities Execute global and regional category strategies at the local site level Lead RFx processes, supplier tenders, and commercial negotiations within assigned categories Manage supplier selection, contract implementation, and contract compliance Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives Analyze procurement data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities Support procurement optimization initiatives through standardization, bundling, and value creation projects Collaborate closely with business, operations, engineering, and other internal stakeholders Act as the key interface between local stakeholders and global procurement teams Qualifications Required Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, or a related discipline At least 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, and strategic sourcing Experience in supplier negotiations and contract management Business-level Japanese and professional working proficiency in English Good working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office applications Preferred Procurement experience within manufacturing or chemical industries Experience supporting multi-site operations Knowledge of cost analysis, total cost of ownership (TCO), and benchmarking methodologies Project management experience Apply now Our people are at the heart of everything, dedicated to delivering value for our customers every day.
