Job description

Sn apshot Build the projects. Build the team. Shape the future of engineering at Englehart. Location: Englehart, Ontario (on-site) | Reports to: OSB/CP Engineering Manager | Travel: approximately 5% | Compensation: $130,000–$160,000 CAD annual base salary + incentives. Your Job We're looking for an experienced project manager who takes real ownership of capital projects and has the potential to lead others. Georgia-Pacific is investing in Englehart. In 2025 we announced a $191 million CAD investment in a new log processing system and an expanded finished-goods warehouse at our Englehart OSB mill. That investment reflects our long-term commitment to this mill, the town and the surrounding communities. The Englehart site engineering team has three project manager positions, and one is open. We're looking for an experienced capital project leader to fill it. You will own projects end to end, from the first idea through start-up, and help shape how engineering works at Englehart. Project managers who excel at delivering projects and show strong leadership may have the opportunity to lead the site engineering team in the future. What You Will Do Originate, develop and deliver capital projects that create superior value for the business. You'll take each project from the first idea and investment proposal through scope development, estimating, execution planning, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and closeout, following Georgia-Pacific's stage-gate Business Process for Projects. Think like an owner. Challenge scope, evaluate alternatives (including "do nothing"), and recommend stopping or re-scoping projects that won't create value. Lead through influence. Align plant operations, maintenance, EHS, procurement, engineering firms, vendors and contractors around one plan, usually without direct authority over them. Set the safety standard. Vet and manage contractors, set expectations at kickoff, and deliver projects with zero injuries and full environmental compliance. Make and meet commitments. Build estimates and schedules, manage risk and change, forecast cost, and report concisely to plant and division leadership. Shape the site's capital plan. Partner with the plant manager and operations leaders on the multi-year capital plan, including which projects get done, in what order, and why. Develop people. Coach and mentor an early-career project manager, share knowledge across the team, and help build the practices, tools and standards the Englehart engineering team will run on. Be the face of engineering at the mill. Build trusted relationships with operators, maintenance crews, contractors and community partners. Your Growth Path Position designed for long-term advancement. Direct exposure to division engineering leadership. Access to leadership development opportunities. Opportunity to learn from a network of OSB mills and project professionals. High-performing project managers will be considered for advancement as the organization grows. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial operations (for example wood products, pulp and paper, mining, oil and gas, power generation, chemicals or metals) 3+ years leading capital projects through the full lifecycle (development, execution and start-up) with accountability for safety, cost and schedule Demonstrated people leadership, such as leading project teams, mentoring or developing others, or supervising contractors or technical staff. A formal supervisory title is not required. Strong written and verbal communication. You can write a clear scope or funding request and explain it to an operator, a contractor and a vice president. Location/Travel: Based at the Englehart facility with a strong on-site presence. Willingness to relocate to or reside within reasonable commuting distance of Englehart. Ability to travel to the United States for business without restriction. Travel will include participation in project reviews, training opportunities, conferences, and collaboration with other engineering and project teams to identify and implement best practices. What Will Put You Ahead Formal supervisory experience, or a record of developing people who went on to bigger roles P.Eng. licence (or eligibility for licensure with Professional Engineers Ontario) and/or PMP certification 7+ years of industrial experience, including front-end loading (FEL) or stage-gate project development Experience in wood products, OSB or panels, sawmills, or pulp and paper Experience at a remote or northern site, or as the go-to technical leader in a small operating team Proficiency with MS Project, AutoCAD and project controls tools such as Ecosys Why Englehart Real ownership and visible impact. A small team, a meaningful capital plan, and decisions that show up on the mill floor. Room to grow. You'll report directly to the OSB/CP Engineering Manager. Georgia-Pacific operates more than 150 facilities, giving you a project network, tools and expertise to draw on. Investment in your development. A Northern Ontario lifestyle.
