Job description
The Director of Product and Portfolio Execution will lead the integrated execution system for the TE’s AD&M (Aerospace Defense and Marine) business unit. This leader will translate strategic direction into a clear, prioritized execution roadmap; align resources and cross-functional capacity to agreed priorities; establish governance, KPI discipline, and operating rhythms; and drive measurable value realization across customer, operational, growth, and financial outcomes. The position requires a general-manager mindset, strong operational and financial acumen, and the ability to lead complex, cross-functional change and influence senior stakeholders without relying on direct authority. Key Responsibilities: 1. Portfolio execution management Translate annual and long-range priorities into an integrated execution roadmap with clear outcomes, owners, milestones, resources, dependencies, and decision gates. Establish a single portfolio view across customer recovery, delivery, capacity, dual sourcing, cost, quality, NPI/industrialization, footprint, and strategic growth initiatives. Run prioritization and sequencing processes that distinguish the critical few from lower-value activity and explicitly manage resource conflicts to enable growth Maintain disciplined follow-through on commitments, corrective actions, and leadership decisions. 2. Cross-functional integration and decision velocity Integrate Product Management, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, Sales, and Program Management into one execution model. Make interdependencies, constraints, and trade-offs visible early, frame decision options, and drive timely resolution at the appropriate level. Clarify decision rights and accountability so teams can act with speed while maintaining appropriate controls. Escalate and manage material customer, financial, capacity, quality, technology, or schedule risks with fact-based recovery options. 3. Customer delivery and operational recovery Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to connect portfolio priorities to schedule attainment, backlog/PDOS reduction, capacity, material availability, lead-time, and recovery plans. Ensure customer commitments and recovery actions are supported by clear assumptions, constraints, owners, and dates. Drive structured root-cause and corrective-action governance for recurring delivery and quality breakdowns, while functional teams retain technical ownership. Create visibility to progress on dual sourcing, labor/headcount constraints, supplier actions, quality fixes, and capacity investments. 4. Growth, innovation, and industrialization execution Coordinate execution of priority product and platform launches Connect business cases and roadmaps to engineering capacity, manufacturing readiness, qualification, sourcing, commercialization, and launch milestones. Drive readiness reviews that test whether customer demand, product maturity, quality, supply, capacity, and commercial plans are aligned before commitments are made. Ensure major footprint, vertical-integration, insourcing, and localization initiatives have integrated plans and measurable benefit realization. What your background should look like: 5. Governance, analytics, and performance management Design and lead weekly and monthly execution forums that focus on decisions, trade-offs, recovery actions, and outcomes rather than status reporting. Develop concise executive dashboards showing plan versus actual, risk, financial/customer impact, critical dependencies, and actions required. Establish consistent definitions, data ownership, and leading indicators across priority initiatives. Partner with Finance to validate benefits, investments, trade-offs, and realization against approved business cases and operating plans. 6. Leadership and organizational capability Coach initiative owners in execution planning, risk management, structured problem solving, and executive communication. Build an ownership culture with clear commitments, transparent escalation, and strong say-do discipline. Identify recurring operating-model friction and implement standard work that improves speed and reliability. Lead through influence across regions, sites, and functions while strengthening trust and shared accountability. Ensure execution mechanisms and decisions comply with applicable TE policies and business requirements, including safety, quality, ethics, information security, data privacy, and regulatory expectations. Build and sustain a high-performance culture focused on engagement, capability building, succession, accountability, and continuous improvement. What your background should look like: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience across product management, operations, program management, supply chain, engineering, business transformation, or comparable roles in a complex industrial environment. Demonstrated success leading multi-function portfolios or transformations with measurable customer, operational, and financial outcomes. Strong understanding of integrated business planning, portfolio governance, capacity and supply planning, new-product/industrialization processes, and financial business cases. Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, prioritize across competing demands, and convert strategy into executable plans. Executive-level communication and synthesis skills, with the credibility to challenge assumptions and influence senior leaders. Experience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated engineered-products environment is strongly preferred. Ability to work across global sites and time zones and travel based on business needs. This role requires access to information subject to ITAR and/or EAR; therefore, the successful candidate must currently qualify as a U.S. person under applicable U.S. export-control laws and regulations. Leadership Profile: Execution-centered strategic thinker: sees the full system and drives the critical details that determine outcomes. Enterprise integrator: aligns functions around shared priorities rather than optimizing within silos. Decisive and fact-based: frames choices, surfaces consequences, and closes decisions. Calm under pressure: creates clarity and momentum in complex customer or operational situations. Ownership builder: strengthens capability and accountability rather than becoming the permanent owner of everyone else’s work.
