You’ll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you—because when you feel valued, you’re empowered to do your best work. Job Summary The Software Development Engineer Sr. Staff (Expert Level) is a highly experienced technical individual contributor with deep expertise in software engineering, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), DevSecOps, and software delivery optimization. This role is responsible for defining technical strategies, designing scalable automation solutions, and driving continuous improvements across the software development lifecycle. The role serves as a technical authority in CI/CD architecture, pipeline engineering, build and release automation, software quality, security integration, and engineering productivity. It identifies systemic bottlenecks, resolves complex technical challenges, and establishes engineering standards and best practices that improve delivery speed, software quality, reliability, security, and operational efficiency. Working across development, quality engineering, security, infrastructure, and operations teams, the Sr. Staff Engineer influences technical direction and drives measurable improvements in software delivery capabilities. This is an expert-level individual contributor role that does not directly manage employees or lead teams but provides technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional influence. Responsibilities Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex software systems engineering issues in creative and effective ways. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Technical Leads by example in setting complex code review guidelines and maintaining high quality code Designs systems with many dependencies and moving parts; the designs are scalable and efficient Debugs complex production issues Introduces best practices learned from cross-functional teams Evaluate and recommend CI/CD tools, frameworks, and technologies based on scalability, maintainability, integration capabilities, security, performance, and total cost of ownership. Define architectural standards and engineering guidelines for pipeline design, version control, branching strategies, build systems, deployment workflows, and release management. Identify architectural limitations and technical debt in existing delivery platforms and develop strategies to modernize and simplify the CI/CD ecosystem. Technical for DevSecOps Identify and eliminate bottlenecks across the software delivery lifecycle, including source code integration, compilation, dependency resolution, testing, artifact publishing, deployment, and release validation. Drive measurable improvements in build and pipeline execution times, feedback cycles, deployment frequency, release lead time, and overall developer productivity. Analyze pipeline execution data, failure patterns, resource utilization, and workflow dependencies to identify root causes and prioritize high-impact improvements. Embed security controls and compliance requirements throughout the CI/CD lifecycle, ensuring that security is integrated into development and delivery workflows rather than treated as a separate activity. Define and implement automated security scanning and policy enforcement, including static application security testing (SAST), software composition analysis (SCA), secret detection, infrastructure-as-code scanning, container scanning, and dynamic testing where applicable. Integrate software bill of materials (SBOM) generation, artifact signing, provenance, dependency verification, and software supply chain security controls into build and release processes. Establish secure pipeline architecture and access controls, including secrets management, least-privilege permissions, protected deployment environments, and controlled access to build infrastructure. Implement policy-as-code and automated compliance validation to enforce engineering standards and security requirements consistently across delivery pipelines. Partner with security, compliance, and infrastructure stakeholders to address vulnerabilities, reduce delivery risks, and improve auditability and traceability. Technical Leadership and Engineering Standards Lead by example in establishing engineering standards, complex code review guidelines, reusable implementation patterns, and high-quality automation practices. Own the design and architecture of CI/CD solutions and influence the broader software engineering architecture to support long-term scalability and maintainability. Define technical approaches for complex assignments where requirements, constraints, or implementation paths are not clearly established. Translate business and engineering objectives into technical strategies, architecture proposals, epics, stories, and measurable engineering outcomes. Collaborate with development, quality engineering, security, product, infrastructure, and operations stakeholders to align priorities and resolve cross-functional challenges. Introduce best practices and proven approaches from across engineering teams and the broader industry. Mentor senior and junior engineers in CI/CD architecture, DevSecOps, automation design, troubleshooting, testing methodologies, and continuous improvement. Influence technical decisions through design reviews, architecture discussions, technical documentation, and evidence-based recommendations without relying on formal people-management authority. Problem Solving and Dealing with Ambiguity Define technical strategies and implementation approaches for complex problems involving multiple systems, dependencies, platforms, and stakeholder requirements. Work with product and engineering stakeholders to clarify ambiguous requirements and identify practical, scalable solutions. Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architectural improvements, maintainability, security, and operational risk. Independently prioritize and manage multiple complex initiatives while adapting to changing business and technical priorities. Approach recurring issues as opportunities to improve system design, automation, reliability, and engineering processes. Make informed technical decisions using data, experimentation, engineering judgment, and a clear understanding of customer and business impact. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Extensive, demonstrable experience in software engineering, CI/CD engineering, DevOps, DevSecOps, or software delivery platform engineering. Expert-level knowledge of CI/CD architecture, build automation, release engineering, deployment automation, and software delivery lifecycle optimisation.
