Allianz Commercial is seeking a Portfolio Solutions Claims Manager to lead claims strategy, governance, and performance across North America. This highly visible role oversees both direct-handled and reinsurance claims across multiple lines of business, bringing together technical claims expertise, portfolio steering, delegated-authority oversight, and strong commercial judgment. You will help create a consistent approach to claims authority, controls, partner performance, and complex-loss management while collaborating with senior leaders and external market partners. This is an opportunity to influence claims outcomes at scale and help strengthen the long-term performance of sophisticated commercial insurance portfolios. 🎯 What You'll Own Lead Claims Strategy and Portfolio Performance Drive the North American claims strategy across direct and reinsurance portfolios, aligning claims priorities with enterprise claims and underwriting objectives. Monitor claims outcomes, emerging issues, and portfolio performance to support informed business decisions. Serve as a senior point of contact for claims performance, escalations, and outcomes. Build claims capabilities, standards, and succession across the function. Represent Allianz Commercial in external forums with reinsurers, cedants, capacity providers, brokers, and market bodies. Strengthen Delegated-Authority Governance Lead a consistent delegated-authority framework for direct-handled and reinsurance claims. Define and monitor claims authority levels, guidelines, controls, and escalation thresholds. Oversee claims handled by third-party administrators, managing general agents, reinsurance carriers, and direct-writer carriers. Establish audit, claims-review, and performance-monitoring programs for delegated partners. Evaluate partner adherence to contractual requirements, service standards, and regulatory expectations. Review delegated-authority arrangements and take corrective action when performance or control standards are not met. Strengthen governance across binders, facilities, and indexes through appropriate referral, segregation, monitoring, and reporting. Provide Technical Claims and Commercial Leadership Provide technical direction on complex direct and reinsurance claims across Property, Liability, Marine, Aviation, and Financial Lines. Apply expertise to Treaty and Facultative reinsurance placements. Oversee coverage determinations, reserving, litigation strategy, reinsurance recoveries, and cession strategy. Partner with brokers on coverage strategy, facility design, and complex claim resolution. Oversee commutations, buy-backs, and recoveries with a focus on accuracy, commercial outcomes, and compliance with policy and contract wordings. Lead the response to large and complex loss events, including catastrophe losses. Oversee aggregate-exposure tracking, reporting, ceded reinsurance recoverable, and counterparty credit exposure in coordination with Finance. 🌟 What You'll Bring to the Table Bachelor's Degree (preferred) Claims and Portfolio Expertise Approximately 7 to 10 years of relevant insurance experience. Expert-level direct claims-handling experience, including coverage analysis, reserving, and litigation management. Strong insurance and reinsurance knowledge. Experience establishing or operating audit, monitoring, and control frameworks for delegated partners. Knowledge of delegated-authority governance involving TPAs, MGAs, carriers, binders, facilities, and indexes. Understanding of applicable reinsurance and claims regulatory frameworks, including NAIC credit-for-reinsurance requirements and state claims-handling standards. Leadership and Commercial Judgment Strong leadership and people-management experience. Demonstrated ability to build productive internal and external relationships, including partnerships with Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, Legal, brokers, and carriers. Experience leading change-management and project-steering initiatives. Strong negotiation skills and sound commercial judgment. Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management capabilities. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package.
