Job Description Gilead's mission is to discover, develop and deliver therapies that improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. We are seeking a Director, Marketing Sciences for GDSI Oncology Integrated Insights, who will support insights for gynecologic cancers, small cell lung cancer and selected oncology pipeline opportunities. The role will integrate forecasting, analytics, primary market research, secondary data and competitive evidence to shape commercial strategy, clinical and development decisions, launch readiness, lifecycle planning and investment choices. This is a hands-on Director role. The individual is expected to own both the strategic narrative and the technical answer: frame the decision, identify the critical uncertainties, establish fit-for-purpose methods, interrogate assumptions, modify or build analyses when needed, and translate evidence into concise recommendations for senior cross-functional stakeholders. Essential Duties and Function Strategic Insights Leadership Act as the objective insights partner to Global Strategic Marketing and cross-functional teams supporting GYN, SCLC and selected pipeline assets. Frame ambiguous business questions as explicit decisions, hypotheses, evidence needs and analytical workplans, with clear ownership, timing and decision criteria. Integrate forecasting, analytics, market research, competitive intelligence, epidemiology, clinical evidence and affiliate perspectives into a coherent view of the market and implications for Gilead. Lead discussion of findings and recommendations with senior stakeholders, distinguish evidence from judgment, surface uncertainty and drive alignment on decisions and next actions. Represent GDSI on relevant commercialization, indication and asset forums, ensuring that insights work is prioritized against the decisions with the greatest strategic and financial consequence Strategic Forecasting and Scenario Planning Own long-term strategic forecasts for GYN and SCLC indications and assigned pipeline assets, incorporating epidemiology, patient segmentation, eligibility, treatment rates, class share, share of class, uptake, duration, compliance, access, price, launch timing and competitive evolution. Rapidly explain forecast level, trajectory, major changes and the two or three assumptions that drive the result; reconcile patient, unit and revenue outputs across indications, geographies, regimens and time periods. Design coherent base, upside, downside and event-driven scenarios. Quantify direct and second-order effects across indications, products and shared patient pools, including sequencing, switching, persistence and cannibalization where applicable. Independently navigate, audit, modify, extend and troubleshoot Forecast Horizon and Excel-based models. Build fit-for-purpose models when the existing architecture cannot answer the business question. Use waterfalls, variance bridges, sensitivities, tornado analyses, scenario comparisons and input comparisons to validate key drivers and expose uncertainty rather than relying on unsupported point estimates. Maintain transparent assumption inventories, source documentation, change logs, model controls and quality checks so that analyses are reproducible and auditable. Market Research and Analytics Define global research and analytics priorities based on the decision to be made, the knowledge gap and the potential value of additional evidence. Lead qualitative and quantitative primary research across physician, patient and payer audiences, including treatment-flow work, patient segmentation, drivers and barriers, positioning and message testing, product attribute assessment, demand estimation and launch-readiness research. Analyze and triangulate secondary sources such as patient-level data, prescription data, epidemiology, treatment patterns, chart audits and competitive evidence. Evaluate population definitions, business rules, sample limitations and whether results are clinically and commercially plausible. Translate comparative product profiles, clinical outcomes, safety and tolerability, administration, access, evidence maturity and competitive timing into defensible adoption and share assumptions. Partner with regional and local Insights teams to incorporate market-specific evidence while maintaining globally consistent definitions, assumptions and forecast logic. Indication and Pipeline Scope For gynecologic cancers, support ongoing phase 3 studies and broader GYN strategy through forecast ownership, market development insights, launch-readiness research, competitive assessment and evaluation of follow-on opportunities. For SCLC, support ongoing phase 3 studies and indication planning through treatment-flow and sequencing analysis, drivers-and-barriers research, launch scenarios, forecast updates and assessment of evolving in-class and out-of-class competition. For selected oncology pipeline assets and external opportunities, lead opportunity assessments, target-product-profile interpretation, demand estimation, scenario valuation and evidence planning appropriate to the asset stage. Ensure that patient-flow logic and treatment-history assumptions are explicit, particularly where prior ADC or class exposure may affect addressability, sequencing, adoption or duration. Quality, Governance and Capability Building Conduct structural, calculation and reasonableness reviews of key models and analyses. Identify double counting, inconsistent populations, hidden constraints, manual overrides, broken links, circularity and unsupported assumptions. Challenge disconnects among the target product profile, evidence, demand research, competitive TPP assessments, analogs, forecast assumptions and resulting revenue. Manage external research and analytics partners, ensuring the method is fit for purpose, execution remains aligned to the decision, and deliverables withstand technical and business scrutiny. Coach colleagues and contractors on forecast logic, model hygiene, research design and executive communication. Raise team capability without becoming the sole keeper of the analysis. Improve the consistency, efficiency, rigor and credibility of GDSI processes, templates and decision support across the oncology portfolio. Knowledge, Experience and Skills Demonstrated hands-on expertise across strategic forecasting, commercial analytics and qualitative and quantitative market research in biopharmaceuticals or healthcare. Ability to independently understand, audit, modify and build patient-based and revenue forecast models in Excel; experience with enterprise forecasting platforms is strongly preferred. Depth in oncology market dynamics, clinical evidence interpretation, treatment sequencing, launch planning and lifecycle strategy. Experience in gynecologic cancers
