Job description

At Flix, we offer a dynamic work environment with competitive pay, strong growth opportunities, and a tech-driven approach to making travel more accessible, sustainable, and affordable. As Senior VAT Compliance Specialist, you will be part of the Europe Finance Operations & Tax team and lead the insourcing of our VAT compliance from external advisors into a centralized VAT compliance tool. You will report to the Director of Finance Operations & Tax Europe and work closely with HQ Tax. This role is based in Sofia (hybrid model). About the Role • End-to-end filing ownership: Maintain a single, consolidated view of filing status, deadlines and submission health across every in-scope country – regardless of who prepared the underlying data – and hold final accountability that every return is filed correctly and on time. • Coordination: Direct the input and review work of team members and local finance contacts per country, and escalate and resolve gaps before deadlines are missed. • VAT tool ownership: Act as the primary internal owner of the VAT compliance tool: configuration, permissions, exception handling and the day-to-day vendor relationship. • Process & controls: Design and enforce a standard review and sign-off process, and build and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) – written step-by-step guides for each recurring filing task in the in-house process – including how responsibility is shared with country-level contributors. • Audit & authorities: Own the audit trail and documentation across all filings and act as lead contact for tax authority queries and audits. • Collaboration with HQ Tax: Cooperate on filing methodology, technical VAT positions and cross-border matters to ensure consistency with group tax policy; report significant findings (e.g. technical exposures, audit issues, authority disputes) to HQ Tax. • Projects: Drive VAT-related international projects within your area of responsibility; the scope may broaden over time as the function evolves. About You • 6+ years of VAT / indirect tax compliance experience across multiple EU jurisdictions, including experience owning outcomes rather than only preparing filings. • Proven experience as the accountable point of contact for compliance across a multi-country portfolio – not just an individual filer. • Hands-on experience with tax technology platforms; prior tool implementation or rollout experience is a strong plus given our phased go-live. • Strong stakeholder management: able to direct and hold accountable contributors who don't report to you, and to work effectively with HQ Tax. We recognize that everyone carries a unique set of valuable skills and experiences. If you think you could have an impact even though you don't meet 100% of the requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We want to hear from you! What We Offer • Travel perks : 12 free Flix vouchers + 12 discount vouchers for friends & family. • Hybrid work model : We are an office-first company, but we offer flexibility to balance work and life. • Wellbeing support : Access confidential 1:1 counselling, courses, and stress management for yourself and up to four family members. <li data-renderer-start-pos="11877"&g
