ROLE OVERVIEW Complex merchants can create complex financial crime risks. Their corporate structures, operating models and control environments may span entities, jurisdictions and teams. When concerns emerge, effective action depends on more than identifying the issue: someone must bring the right people together, agree a credible response, and keep remediation moving until it is complete. As Financial Crime Oversight & Remediation Manager, you will provide that ownership. You will coordinate targeted oversight of higher-risk or strategically important merchant relationships, helping turn concerns into clear, proportionate and evidenced plans. You will work across Compliance, Financial Crime Investigations, onboarding, commercial and operational teams, and, where appropriate, directly with merchants. Your judgement will matter: you will need to know when a proposed control or remediation is credible, when evidence is insufficient, and when an issue needs escalation. This is a hands-on role for someone who combines financial crime compliance expertise with strong delivery discipline. You will help address issues early, support defensible decisions, and give complex remediation the structure and follow-through it needs. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Own targeted remediation coordination. For complex merchant concerns, bring together the relevant internal teams, clarify the problem and desired outcomes, agree accountable owners and milestones, and maintain a practical plan through to closure. Track dependencies and slippage, challenge gaps, escalate material blockers and confirm that completion is supported by evidence. - Coordinate Compliance-imposed conditions. Track material financial-crime conditions attached to product, market or other approval decisions. Work with the relevant Compliance and business owners to confirm accountability, milestones and evidence of completion; identify slippage or gaps; challenge whether evidence demonstrates the condition has been met; and escalate overdue or inadequately evidenced actions through the agreed governance route. The relevant delivery owner remains accountable for implementing the condition. - Coordinate enhanced oversight of merchants. Support a structured watch-list approach for merchants whose risk or control environment warrants closer attention than routine, risk-tiered monitoring, but where immediate termination or a formal investigation is not necessarily the right response. Help define the oversight plan, review progress and ensure concerns do not remain unresolved or without an owner. - Assess remediation quality. Review proposed actions and evidence against the underlying financial crime concern and relevant regulatory expectations. Identify whether controls appear appropriately designed and operating, whether further evidence or testing is needed, and whether residual concerns require escalation or a change in the relationship’s risk treatment. - Engage merchants constructively. Where appropriate, work with account teams to agree clear requests, expectations and timelines with merchants. Maintain a firm, evidence-led approach while supporting a proportionate path to address weaknesses and establish whether the relationship can be sustained safely. - Lead enhanced control reviews. Design and, where appropriate, lead deeper reviews of a merchant’s AML controls during onboarding or ongoing oversight. This may include preparing agendas, conducting structured discussions with merchant stakeholders, probing key control areas, documenting findings and agreeing any required remediation. - Support reliance and outsourcing assessments. Contribute to the initial scrutiny of outsourced activities or other arrangements that depend on another party’s controls. Help establish whether reliance is justified, what evidence supports that view, and what conditions or remediation are required. - Improve the oversight approach. Capture recurring issues, lessons and delivery gaps
