Key Responsibilities • Own 24x7 database support covering incidents, requests, problems, and changes. • Provide on-call database support during weekends and outside business hours. • Own and deliver client and infrastructure projects. • Plan and deliver database patching, upgrade, and migration projects. • Manage database tools and operational scripts. • Perform Primary DBA responsibilities for multiple applications. • Automate recurring operational tasks. • Reduce ticket volumes through structured problem management. • Manage disaster recovery tests and exercises. • Identify and deliver proofs of concept for new RDBMS features, open-source products, and emerging technologies. • Work with application teams to provide solutions for technical requirements and problems. • Proactively identify risks and implement solutions to prevent incidents and application outages. • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to optimize database performance and reduce incident probability. Profile Mandatory Skills and Experience • Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications. • Administration experience with PostgreSQL 12, 13, 14, and 15. • Excellent knowledge of PostgreSQL RDBMS architecture and design. • Strong knowledge of architecture, backup, recovery, Point-in-Time Recovery, replication, and performance tuning. • Experience with pg_dump and pg_dumpall, WAL archiving, and Point-in-Time Recovery. • Hands-on experience with repmgr, pgBackRest, pg_repack, pgcrypto, pgaudit, Foreign Data Wrapper, and PgBouncer. • Good understanding of pg_hba.conf and postgresql.conf, including key parameter values. • Scripting and automation using Ansible and Shell. • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex performance problems. • Experience managing patching, upgrades, and migrations. • Experience with monitoring and performance analysis using open-source tools. • Experience handling disaster-recovery tests and exercises. • Certification or hands-on experience managing Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL on AWS. • Experience supporting large-scale environments with at least 1,000 databases and large database sizes. • Banking-domain experience preferred. • Expert knowledge of ITIL processes covering Incident, Problem, Change, Quality Management, and Continual Service Improvement. • Strong coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills for global teams and clients. • Ability to analyze and diagnose problems and work with global stakeholders on tactical and long-term solutions. • Demonstrable crisis-management skills in a large, globally distributed environment. • Experience working in automated operations environments. • Experience managing operations across core and cloud infrastructure; as-a-service platform experience is desirable.
