STMicroelectronics Malta is seeking a skilled and motivated Plant Layout Engineer. In this role, you will develop and maintain plant and production layouts for equipment, machinery, automation systems, and related infrastructure. Using AutoCAD and other relevant CAD tools, you will turn engineering requirements and operational needs into practical, accurate layouts that support efficient workflows, effective use of space, safe access, and successful equipment installation. This position focuses on factory and equipment layout, not product design. You will work closely with facilities, maintenance, industrial engineering, automation, and production teams to coordinate layout solutions and support installation activities. Duties & Responsibilities The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Prepare and update 2D and 3D layouts, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, and installation plans using AutoCAD and relevant CAD software. * Review existing layouts and recommend improvements to space utilization, workflow, accessibility, and operational efficiency. * Integrate production and automation equipment—including workstations, robots, conveyors, inspection systems, and packaging equipment—into plant layouts. * Coordinate with cross-functional engineering and operational teams to ensure layouts are practical, aligned, and ready for implementation. * Check equipment dimensions, available space, access routes, maintenance clearances, safety zones, and installation requirements. * Identify potential layout clashes or installation constraints and help resolve them with the relevant teams. * Maintain accurate drawings, revisions, and technical documentation for project reviews, approvals, manufacturing, and installation. * Support equipment installation and commissioning, review as-built layouts, and update drawings to reflect site changes. * Coordinate equipment installation timelines with facilities and maintenance teams. * Contribute to continuous improvement and ensure layout deliverables consider applicable safety, engineering, and quality requirements. Skills & Qualifications The ideal candidate shall: * Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. * Have experience or knowledge in plant, factory, facility, or production equipment layout. * Be proficient in AutoCAD and able to prepare and interpret 2D engineering drawings; experience with 3D CAD tools is an advantage. * Be able to interpret technical specifications, equipment dimensions, and installation requirements. * Understand the importance of space planning, workflow, access, maintenance clearances, and safety considerations in production environments. * Have strong coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams. * Be organized and detail-oriented, particularly when preparing drawings and managing revisions. * Demonstrate a practical, problem-solving approach and an interest in continuous improvement. We encourage candidates who may not meet every single requirement to apply, as we appreciate diverse perspectives and provide opportunities for growth and learning.
