We are looking for an experienced Backend-Focused Software Development Engineer to join the PingOne Admin Experience team. The engineer will primarily focus on designing and developing scalable SaaS backend services using Java , while also being capable of contributing to front-end development when required. The role requires strong hands-on engineering experience, participation in architecture and technical design, adherence to SDLC best practices, and close collaboration with Product, UX, and other engineering teams. The engineer will work as an Individual Contributor and is expected to provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and SaaS applications, primarily using Java . Participate in architecture and technical design discussions for team initiatives. Analyze product requirements and translate them into appropriate technical designs and implementation approaches. Collaborate with Product Managers and UX Designers to clarify requirements and designs. Contribute to front-end development, primarily React/Redux , when required. Ensure adherence to SDLC, Agile, engineering quality, and DevOps best practices . Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests . Participate in code reviews and contribute to overall code quality and engineering standards. Work with other engineering teams to identify dependencies, resolve technical blockers, and support end-to-end delivery. Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools across development, debugging, testing, code review, and other SDLC activities. Coach and mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance where required. Skill Requirements Primary / Must-Have Skills 5+ years of backend software development experience. Strong hands-on development experience with Java . At least 2 years of experience developing SaaS applications . Strong understanding of backend application and service design. Experience analyzing requirements and contributing to software architecture and technical design . Experience with unit testing and integration test automation . Good understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC best practices . Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD . Experience working collaboratively across engineering, Product, and UX teams. Experience mentoring or coaching junior software engineers. Secondary / Preferred Skills Experience with Spring Boot . Front-end development experience, preferably React/Redux . Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures. Experience with Cassandra or similar NoSQL technologies. Experience with AWS/cloud technologies . Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools across the SDLC. Other Requirements Ability to work effectively as an Individual Contributor while taking ownership of assigned initiatives. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed and offshore teams. Ability to coordinate cross-team dependencies and proactively drive blockers to closure. Prior experience leading technical initiatives or teams is an advantage.
