Work Flexibility: Hybrid or Onsite Who we want: Vocera now a part of Stryker is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer with 6–8 years of software development experience to design and build scalable cloud-native applications and platform services. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Java/Kotlin or Node.js, with expertise in backend development, modern web technologies, and AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure. This role requires solid software design and architecture skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to lead technical implementation while continuously learning and adopting new technologies. What you will do: Technical Responsibilities Design and develop scalable applications, microservices, and cloud-native platform services. Build backend services and APIs using Java/Kotlin or Node.js, with exposure to full-stack development. Contribute to software architecture, system design, and technical decision-making. Conduct code reviews and promote engineering standards and design best practices. Improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability. Evaluate new technologies and contribute to platform enhancements and proof of concepts. Mentor engineers and share technical knowledge within the team. General Responsibilities Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Architecture, DevOps, and Quality teams to deliver high-quality software. Contribute to technical planning, estimation, and delivery of engineering initiatives. Promote automation, software quality, and continuous improvement. Demonstrate ownership, adaptability, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning. Minimum Qualifications (Required): Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, with 6+ years of professional software development experience. Strong hands-on programming experience in Java/Kotlin or Node.js. Experience designing and developing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed applications. Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure. Understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns, and SOLID principles. Familiarity with modern frontend technologies and full-stack application development. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Passion for continuous learning and the ability to adopt new technologies based on business and engineering needs. Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Desired): Experience with Spring Boot, Angular, or other modern frontend frameworks. Experience building cloud-native SaaS platforms, microservices, or multi-tenant applications. Knowledge of observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and modern DevOps practices. Exposure to AI-assisted software development or GenAI technologies. Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries is an advantage. Travel Percentage:10% Travel Percentage: 10%
