Job description

Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions Office Job Description Are you studying software engineering, passionate about programming, and interested in how artificial intelligence and computer vision are used in practice? Would you like to work on algorithms that help analyze microscopic particles and gain hands-on experience developing cutting-edge technologies? We are looking for a motivated student to join our R&D team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to the development of software for particle analysis. Our technologies support customers in the automotive and battery industries, space exploration, forensic laboratories, and many other fields. We work on a product that ranks among the world's leading solutions, and we're constantly looking for ways to improve its performance and capabilities. You don't need years of professional experience. What matters most to us is your technical mindset, curiosity, and willingness to experiment and explore new solutions. What will you do? Contribute to the development of new algorithms for automated particle analysis and recognition. Test and prototype new ideas using modern software technologies. Participate in software development using C++, C#, and .NET 10. Explore opportunities to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to image analysis. Evaluate test results and identify ways to improve product performance and quality. Collaborate with colleagues from R&D, Software Quality Assurance (SQA), Engineering, and Application Development. Share your findings, discuss emerging technologies, and explore how they can be applied in practice. Your ideas won't just stay on paper. You'll have the opportunity to test your own solutions, work with modern technologies, and contribute to software that makes a real difference in science and industry. Who are we looking for? You are currently studying software engineering, computer science, or a related technical field at university. Ideally 1st year of Master's degree for this specific position. The internship lasts at least one year, and you must maintain your student status until at least January/February 2028. You have programming knowledge in C++ or C# and are familiar with the .NET environment. You are interested in algorithm development, image analysis, and modern software technologies. You have a basic understanding of AI and machine learning principles, particularly in computer vision (e.g., CNNs, image segmentation, or object detection). You can think independently, solve problems, and care about the quality of your work. You have good communication skills and enjoy collaborating with colleagues, including those from other countries. You are eager to learn, open to experimenting with new ideas, and comfortable taking responsibility for your own tasks. What would be a plus? Experience with any of the following would be an advantage, but is not required: Git, Jira, or Jenkins. Python and image processing libraries such as OpenCV. Machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. AI-powered software development tools such as Codex or Claude Code. What do we offer? Meaningful and rewarding work in an international high-tech company with exciting career prospects. Flexible working hours that you can easily balance with your studies. An extra week of paid vacation. A meal allowance. A free MultiSport card. A discounted mobile phone plan. Support for your professional and personal growth and development. A friendly and informal company culture. The opportunity to gain hands-on experience in algorithm development, computer vision, and AI/ML within an international R&D team.
