As a Senior Java Full-Stack Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and evolving the platforms, APIs and services that power our digital channels. Working within a high-performing agile engineering team, you'll develop scalable, secure and resilient solutions using modern engineering practices and cloud-native technologies. While the role includes some full-stack development, the primary focus is backend engineering, building APIs and microservices that support critical customer and payments journeys. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale platforms, influence technical direction and contribute to engineering excellence across BT. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham (Snowhill), with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from Home. What you’ll be doing Design, develop and maintain scalable microservices using Java 17 and Spring Boot. Design, build and support RESTful APIs. Develop clean, efficient and maintainable code aligned to engineering best practice. Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps ways of working. Collaborate with architects, product owners, designers and engineers to deliver business outcomes. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support production services. Contribute to cloud-native application development and modern engineering practices. Participate in code reviews and technical discussions across the team. Contribute to front-end development activities using React where required. Essential Skills / Experience Strong hands-on experience with Java 17, Spring Boot and Microservices architecture. Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
