In this vital role you will provide paralegal support for the Patent Law group and be responsible for managing and maintaining patent prosecution dockets for U.S. and foreign patent portfolios. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Reviewing and docketing patent prosecution correspondence from US and foreign patent offices; Sending filing instructions to outside associates; maintaining follow-up correspondence; and ensuring completion of all country specific formalities; Managing patent dockets, including determining and docketing critical dates for US and foreign patent offices; Preparing reports through IP Management Software (Anaqua); Serving as a resource to the Patent Department staff regarding U.S. and foreign patent law rules and regulations, including making presentations at patent staff meetings and researching country law requirements using online resources such as Kluwer IP; Coordinating international filings through the PCT, entering the national phase, as well as direct Paris Convention filings and EP validations; Managing payment of annuities; Reviewing documentation prior to submission to the U.S. and foreign Patent Offices; Reviewing formality documents including Assignments, Declarations, Powers of Attorney, and Statements of Use; Coordinating invention disclosure processing and review; and Creating, maintaining and auditing database records (Anaqua). Basic Qualifications: Master’s degree/bachelor’s degree and 5-9 years of IP docketing experience. Preferred Qualifications: Associate/baccalaureate degree or completion of an ABA-approved legal assistant/paralegal program 4+years intellectual property in biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector US and Foreign patent prosecution experience Proficiency with Anaqua docketing system Motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, such as oral and written communication skills. A demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
