About the Role As a Senior Systems Engineer within the Boston Scientific Neuromodulation R&D team, you will play a critical role in the design, integration, and verification of complex implantable and connected neuromodulation systems. You will contribute across the full product development lifecycle by interpreting system requirements, understanding system behaviors, developing verification strategies, executing system-level testing, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role requires deep technical expertise across Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) and Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) implantable devices, system workflows, communication interfaces, test infrastructure, and verification automation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across Systems, Software, Hardware, Firmware, Test, Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity, and cloud engineering. You will serve as a technical leader for global verification efforts and provide hands-on support in test development, system analysis, integration, and formal verification. This is an on-site role based in Valencia, California (U.S. Only). Work Mode At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows onsite work model, requiring employees to be in our local office five days per week. Relocation Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time. VISA Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment VISA for this position at this time. Your Responsibilities Will Include: Contribute to system engineering activities, including workflow analysis, system behavior mapping, and risk-based assessment. Lead the planning, development, and execution of complex system verification strategies, including waveform validation, communication paths, embedded behavior, and algorithm-driven system responses. Develop system-test infrastructure and verification setups, including test fixtures, simulators, instrumentation interfaces, reusable environments, and hardware/software integration configurations. Design, implement, and maintain system-test automation frameworks, reusable libraries, automated data collection, results analysis, and verification reporting capabilities. Establish scalable automated and manual system-testing frameworks for complex hardware, firmware, software, implantable-device, and connected-device workflows. Develop and optimize test cases, technical objectives, and verification documentation to ensure comprehensive coverage and traceability. Provide hands-on verification and integration support for SCS and PNS system components, including implantable pulse generators, leads, stimulator SEIT boards, Clinician Programmer applications, patient controllers, and charger systems. Test and verify system behaviors involving Bluetooth communication, cybersecurity safeguards, and cloud-connected workflows. Develop automation frameworks and reusable libraries using Python and PHP. Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, source meters, and related instrumentation for signal and hardware-interface verification. Manage defect triage, prioritization, and system-level root-cause analysis. Lead technical teams through verification planning, test execution, issue resolution, risk assessment, and formal testing activities. Drive cross-functional coordination across Systems, Software, Firmware, Hardware, Test, Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity, and global engineering teams to align priorities, resolve technical issues, and deliver milestones. Facilitate Agile ceremonies, maintain Jira boards, and support planning, retrospectives, and team execution. Mentor verification engineers across regions and support onboarding, training, and technical development. Maintain audit-ready verification artifacts, including trace matrices, reports, and summaries. Drive ongoing improvements in verification methods, automation coverage, test infrastructure, and quality processes. Utilize Bitbucket, configuration management, and Python-based tooling to support automation pipelines and code-review practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. 8+ years of engineering experience with neuromodulation medical devices, embedded systems, or regulated product development. Strong product knowledge of Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) and Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) implantable devices, including implantable pulse generators, leads, external programmers/controllers, chargers, and associated therapy-delivery workflows. Strong background in system verification and mixed hardware/software engineering. Demonstrated experience developing system-test infrastructure, system verification setups, test fixtures, simulators, instrumentation interfaces, and reusable test environments for implantable medical-device systems. Hands-on experience developing system-test automation, including automated test frameworks, reusable libraries, hardware/software interfaces, data collection, results analysis, and verification reporting. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining both automated and manual system-testing frameworks for complex hardware, firmware, software, and connected-device workflows. Hands-on experience with Bluetooth communications, cybersecurity interfaces, system integration, and cloud-connected architectures. Demonstrated ability to verify and integrate implantable neuromodulation components and programmer interfaces. Experience developing automated libraries, scripts, and frameworks in Python and PHP. Proven ability to interpret system requirements and produce verification plans, traceability, and compliant documentation. Experience with oscilloscopes, source meters, and digital multimeters. Experience with SDLC/PLCP phases, defect management, and Agile methodologies. Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders through verification planning, test execution, defect resolution, risk assessment, and milestone delivery. Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to work full-time on-site in Valencia, California. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated expertise designing complex SCS and PNS therapy waveform verification strategies, including signal shaping, timing precision, and multichannel coordination. Experience validating therapy execution behaviors, patient-safety programming rules, safety constraints, and algorithm-driven clinical workflows. Hands-on experience verifying Bluetooth-secured communication paths. Proven leadership coordinating global, cross-regional verification teams, including mentoring, workflow alignment, and execution oversight. Ability to design and refine automation architectures and reusable test libraries that significantly expand coverage and reduce manual testing. Strong understanding of hardware-software integration, including use of SEIT boards, clinician programmers, patient-facing controllers, implantable pulse generators, leads, and charging systems.
