Job Description As a Head Function SGD – SDC Slovenia, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of managers and professionals, serving as a distinguished scientific leader within the organization in Sandoz global development (SGD). You will initiate and lead strategic projects, networks, and platforms that advance the development function. You will chair advisory boards on complex R&D topics, coach peers, and guide project portfolios and complex networks, applying your leadership and project management expertise to address high-impact scientific and technical challenges. You will ensure compliance with legislation, internal policies, good practices, and business objectives while managing and developing associates. Your key responsibilities: Business impact:Actively lead, initiate and direct cross functional teams, projects, networks and/or platforms on a department level or beyond. Provide strategic leadership and oversight for efficient and robust planning and integration of crossfunctional operational processes for the project development including budget. Shape, initiate and drive development strategies for projects and platforms, be fully accountable to achieve goals and strategic directives. Functional/Scientific Knowhow:Have comprehensive in-depth knowledge in relevant disciplines or technical fields, i.e. broad variety of technologies for oral solids, injectables and other pharmaceutical dosage forms Provide comprehensive advice as a go to person on a wide range of issues within and outside of own discipline or field of knowledge. Proven experience in driving efficient high throughput generic development for wide range of geographies. Serve as a role model, set standards and drive excellence in Sandoz drug development. Accountable for appropriate standards defined for quality, ethics, health, safety, environment, and information security. Enhance visibility of Sandoz in community to attract top talent and make Sandoz recognized as "an employer of choice”. Create and implement optimized processes and procedures. Lead or be a key member of advisory boards and organizing committee(s) for internal/external symposium/consortium. Present and initiate discussion on scientific/technical work at internal/external meetings/conferences Leadership skills:Successfully demonstrated min. 8 years of experience leading large teams of directly related experience as Department Head, Head of Function or equivalent, leader of the leaders. Distinguished scientific leader. Exceptionally broad and in-depth knowledge in the area of expertise and several disciplines. Outstanding track record; proven key contributions to development projects, marketed products and strategic activities. Influencing current trends and upcoming techniques for current and future applications. Driving people development in line with technical (scientific) and business needs. Excellent track record to lead interdisciplinary and cross functional teams Outstanding leadership skills. Excellent communication/presentation skills and scientific and technical writing skills. Advanced coaching and mentoring skills. Excellent conflict management skills. Other tasks determined during the annual objectives setting process and by KPIs. Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor and tasks based on a specific appointment. Providing conditions for and control of the implementation of HSE tasks and requirements in the unit. Communicating company vision and values; proven record of establishing and managing good relationships with business partners internally and externally and with academia What you will bring to the role:PhD degree in a pharmaceutical, chemistry or other relevant field. Minimum 15 years relevant experience including substantial experience in people management and leading leaders. Fluent in English. Knowledge of Slovenian is an advantage. What we offer:Job location: Ljubljana Contract type: permanent with a 6-months probation period Expected weekly working hours: 40 *Pay range: €117,600 – €176,400 gross yearly *Salary at Sandoz is based on job level, qualifications, specific skills, and work experience. Fully proficient candidates are usually placed around the market median, less experienced candidates lower in the range, and those with strong or niche expertise higher. When determining placement within the range, we also consider internal pay equity and external market data. Our compensation package additionally includes:Annual bonus (STI & LTI): percentage of annual salary. Vacation allowance: in 2026 it was €2,450.00 net. Christmas bonus: in 2025 it was €2,100 gross.
