Job description

Chief Technology Officer Role Overview FINEOS has established itself as the market leader in core software for life, accident and health insurance. With a strong product foundation, deep customer relationships and a growing global footprint, we are entering a new phase of opportunity. Advances in AI, software engineering, cloud platforms and automation are rapidly changing how software is built and how value is delivered to customers. We believe these shifts create an opportunity not simply to improve what we do, but to redefine the capabilities our customers can expect from their technology partners. We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer who can help lead that transformation. This is a role for a technology leader who is equally comfortable shaping long-term strategy and driving operational execution. The successful candidate will oversee a global technology organization, and its timely and cost-effective delivery to customers, while helping FINEOS accelerate innovation, increase engineering effectiveness, deepen our use of AI, and strengthen our position as the technology partner of choice for the world's leading insurers. The CTO will inherit a mature product platform, a talented technology organization, and a business with a strong market position. They will be expected to build on these foundations while identifying new opportunities to create competitive advantage through technology, product innovation and organisational capability. Success in this role will come from balancing ambition with execution: modernising and evolving the technology landscape while continuing to deliver predictably for customers; fostering experimentation and innovation while maintaining the operational discipline expected of an enterprise software leader; and helping FINEOS navigate one of the most significant technological shifts the industry has experienced in decades. The CTO will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and will play a central role in shaping the next chapter of the company's growth. The CTO will also be a visible technology ambassador for FINEOS, building trusted relationships with customers, partners and industry stakeholders, representing the company's technical vision and helping position FINEOS as a technology forward leader in its market. Location: Ireland preferred. The role requires some travel: spending time with customers and market participants, as well as with our product and engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Technology Strategy, Innovation and AI Own and evolve the FINEOS technology vision and strategy aligned with our overall FINEOS vision, ensuring we remain aligned with customer expectations, business priorities and a rapidly changing technology landscape. Own the technology investment and return value, ensuring engineering, platform, cloud and AI investments deliver measurable improvements in customer value, speed, quality, productivity and cost efficiency. Ensure technology investments balance innovation with the quality, resilience, security, scalability, usability and trust expected of a mission-critical enterprise platform. Shape how FINEOS evaluates and adopts emerging technologies, identifying opportunities that strengthen customer outcomes, market position and operational effectiveness. Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation and technical curiosity, creating practical pathways from idea to product capability. Partner with other executives to ensure innovation efforts are focused on meaningful customer and commercial outcomes. Create an environment in which engineers, architects and product teams can experiment, prototype and explore new technical possibilities, with effective pathways for promising ideas to become trusted enterprise capabilities. Provide strategic technology insight to the executive team, contributing to company strategy, investment decisions and long-term growth plans. Engineering, Platform and Architecture Leadership Provide executive leadership to a large global technology organisation of engineers, architects and platform specialists, ensuring alignment, accountability, operational excellence and sustained delivery performance at scale. Ensure continued successful delivery outcomes across a complex portfolio of committed customer and product initiatives, ensuring FINEOS consistently delivers high-quality releases in demanding and highly visible enterprise environments. Evolve the organisation's engineering, architecture and AI capabilities, ensuring FINEOS has the skills and talent required for its next phase of growth. Ensure leaders at every level use data to understand performance, identify bottlenecks, challenge assumptions and drive better outcomes. Drive innovation in how we build and deliver the vision, taking full advantage of AI, automation and emerging agentic capabilities. Ensure security, privacy, resilience, regulatory requirements and responsible AI are embedded by design into architecture, engineering and product development. Create alignment across Product Engineering, Cloud Operations, Security, Product Consulting and other technology stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer outcomes. Customer, Market and Industry Leadership Serve as a senior technology representative of FINEOS with customers, prospects, partners, analysts and industry participants. Communicate the FINEOS technology vision, platform strategy and AI direction in a clear, credible and compelling way. Build trusted relationships with CIOs, CTOs and senior technology leaders across the market. Lead our CIO Forums on all FINEOS technology-related matters. Support strategic customer engagements, major opportunities and industry events where executive technology leadership can strengthen customer confidence and market positioning. Act as the ultimate technology escalation point for major customer issues, balancing urgency, transparency and accountability while maintaining customer confidence during high-pressure situations. Act as an external voice on technology trends relevant to the future of insurance software and SaaS platforms. Drive alignment and influence across organisational boundaries, recognising that many critical technology outcomes depend on partnership rather than direct authority. What We're Looking For Proven experience as a tech-forward CTO, SVP Engineering or equivalent senior technology leader within enterprise SaaS. A track record of defining technology strategy while leading large (150+) organisations responsible for engineering, architecture and platform capabilities. Strong technology judgement, with the ability to balance innovation, customer value, technical excellence and business outcomes. Demonstrable experience applying emerging technologies, including AI, within enterprise software environments. Experience engaging credibly with enterprise customers, executive stakeholders and technology leaders. A history of building alignment across complex organisations and leading through influence as well as direct authority. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to represent technology strategy both internally and externally. Experience operating in insurance or other regulated, complex and mission-critical software environments is advantageous.
