Job description

Introduction to the jobHelp develop the highly reliable electronic systems and connectivity solutions that enable ASML’s EUV source and lithography technology. As a PCBA Designer at ASML, you’ll lead the design, development, integration, and validation of complex electronic connectivity solutions. You’ll help shape electrical architectures involving PCBAs, cabling, interconnects, racks, and subsystem integration while ensuring designs meet demanding EMC, signal integrity, safety, and reliability requirements. Working in multidisciplinary teams, you’ll guide designs from concept through qualification and production while helping define the technologies and engineering practices that support future ASML systems. Role and responsibilitiesYou’ll serve as a senior technical leader for electronics connectivity and EMC, working across engineering disciplines and with suppliers to develop robust hardware solutions for complex semiconductor manufacturing equipment. As Senior Electrical Engineer - PCBA Design Engineer, you’ll: Lead development of electrical connectivity architectures, including PCBAs, cables, harnesses, racks, cabinets, and subsystem interconnects. Define and maintain electronic hardware requirements, specifications, interface definitions, and validation plans. Design, review, and qualify PCBAs used in control, monitoring, and communication applications. Perform electrical architecture trade studies to optimize performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost. Drive EMC/EMI compliance throughout the product development lifecycle, including design reviews, mitigation strategies, and qualification testing. Define design rules and layout constraints for signal integrity, grounding, shielding, high-speed interfaces, and EMC performance. Support schematic capture, component selection, design verification, and root-cause analysis. Lead troubleshooting and failure-analysis activities at the board, module, and system levels. Collaborate with system architects, software engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, suppliers, and development partners to deliver robust electronic solutions. Review supplier designs and provide technical guidance on electrical design, EMC performance, and qualification readiness. Contribute to technology roadmaps involving connectivity, electronics reliability, and high-speed communication interfaces. Provide technical guidance in technologies including cPCI, PCIe, PLC, EtherCAT, Ethernet, photodetectors, differential signaling, wideband circuits, high-speed embedded computing, VHDL, distributed signal acquisition, and signal integrity. Support project planning activities and communicate technical risks, project status, and mitigation plans to stakeholders and management. Mentor and coach junior engineers and project teams. Transfer technical knowledge to Manufacturing, Service, and Support organizations. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and experienceTo help us solve some of the most complex electronics challenges in the semiconductor industry, you’ll need significant experience developing high-reliability electronic hardware and integrating electronics into complex systems. As Senior Electrical Engineer - PCBA Design Engineer, you’ll need: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; an advanced degree is preferred. At least 10 years of industry experience in electronic hardware development. At least 5 years of experience designing PCBAs and electronic modules for semiconductor, industrial, aerospace, medical, automotive, or similarly demanding applications. Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit-design fundamentals. Knowledge of FPGA design technologies. Demonstrated experience developing electrical connectivity solutions, including cabling, harnesses, racks, enclosures, and interconnect systems. Strong experience with PCBA design, schematic capture, component selection, design review, design validation, and hardware release. Hands-on experience with EMC/EMI design techniques, qualification testing, and emissions and immunity testing. Experience defining grounding, shielding, filtering, and signal integrity strategies for complex electronic systems. Experience troubleshooting analog and digital electronics at the board, module, and system levels. Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and communication bus analyzers. Experience with schematic capture and hardware design tools. Experience with Capital, XPedition, Altium Designer, or similar platforms is preferred. Familiarity with high-speed and digital communication interfaces such as Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, and PCIe. Understanding of reliability engineering concepts such as MTBF, HALT, ALT, and DFMEA. Experience with configuration management and engineering change processes. Experience collaborating with suppliers and outsourced development partners. Experience with the following is a plus: EMC certification and compliance testing to IEC, EN, CISPR, FCC, CE, or equivalent standards. High-speed digital PCB design and signal integrity analysis. Functional safety principles and electronics safety requirements. Hardware qualification in regulated or high-reliability product environments. Semiconductor capital equipment, industrial automation, motion control, or precision mechatronic systems. Leading technical investigations involving EMC-related field issues. SAFe Agile methodologies. SkillsWorking at the cutting edge of technology means solving problems that cross traditional engineering boundaries. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and global partners, balancing electrical performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, safety, and cost. To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following skills: Strong technical leadership and systems-thinking capability. Deep understanding of electronic connectivity, EMC, grounding, shielding, signal integrity, and electrical integration principles. Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
