Job description

Introduction to the RoleASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market, and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon. Role and Responsibilities If you are passionate about leading people, developing engineering talent, and shaping advanced technology, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within CLS Electrical Development (EDEV). As Team Lead for Electrical Engineering, you will lead and develop a talented team working on state-of-the-art DUV light source systems while helping strengthen EDEV’s technical capabilities and future. This people manager role, similar in scope to a Group Lead, is responsible for talent development, performance management, workforce planning, and employee engagement, while fostering a collaborative culture of ownership and execution excellence. You will also provide technical and organizational leadership to cross-disciplinary teams designing, testing, analyzing, and integrating advanced electrical and electromechanical modules from concept and prototype through manufacturing. The role offers a unique opportunity to develop future technical leaders, strengthen engineering competencies, influence technical direction, and help shape the next generation of CLS DUV Light Source technology. The Team Lead reports to the Electrical Engineering (EDEV) Group Lead and serves as a key connection between people development, technical leadership, and business execution, providing the opportunity to make a lasting impact on both the engineering organization and the products it delivers. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5–10 electrical engineers, creating an environment that promotes technical excellence, collaboration, ownership, innovation, and individual career growth. Coach and grow engineering talent through regular 1:1s, development plans, technical mentoring, career discussions, performance feedback, and meaningful stretch opportunities. Build the next generation of technical leaders by identifying emerging talent and creating opportunities for engineers to expand their technical leadership, project ownership, and cross-functional influence. Shape the technical direction and priorities of the team, partnering with architects, systems engineers, project leaders, and other engineering disciplines to translate product needs into robust electrical solutions. Drive prototype and product development through the Product Generation Process, including requirements definition, design reviews, prototype/pilot builds, verification, qualification, release, and engineering documentation. Provide leadership and technical oversight of electrical designs, including system architecture, electrical schematics, PCA/PWB development, component selection, interfaces, subsystem integration, and verification strategies. Lead engineering decision-making and structured problem-solving for complex technical challenges using analysis, modeling, experimentation, prototyping, root-cause investigation, and data-driven tradeoffs. Promote innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging the team to explore new technologies, engineering methods, automation, AI-enabled engineering tools, and more efficient ways of designing and validating products. Manage gated project plans and engineering commitments, balancing technical scope, schedule, resources, risk, budget, quality, and stakeholder expectations. Own workforce and resource planning for the team, aligning capabilities and engineering capacity with current programs, technology roadmaps, and future business needs. Allocate and negotiate engineering resources across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring priorities are clear and engineers are positioned for both successful execution and professional development. Represent EDEV across cross-functional teams, collaborating with Manufacturing, Test, Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Customer Service, Systems Engineering, Program Management, and other development organizations. Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, influencing decisions and creating alignment across organizational and technical boundaries. Lead or significantly contribute to DFMEA/PFMEA, design reviews, risk assessments, and technical readiness reviews, ensuring actions and engineering risks are driven to effective closure. Champion Design for Excellence principles, including reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, testability, safety, cost, and long-term product sustainability. Strengthen engineering competency and knowledge sharing across CLS DUV Light Source products through technical reviews, lessons learned, mentoring, design standards, reusable solutions, and engineering best practices. Help shape the future of the EDEV organization by contributing to technology roadmaps, competency development, engineering processes, workforce strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives. Create an inclusive, engaging, and high-performing team culture where engineers feel empowered to contribute ideas, take ownership, collaborate openly, and deliver meaningful results. Celebrate team and individual accomplishments, reinforce strong engineering behaviors, and create opportunities for engineers to gain visibility and recognition for their contributions. Serve as a leadership bridge between people, technology, projects, and business priorities, helping the team understand not only what we are developing, but why it matters. Other duties as assigned. Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 8+ years relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years relevant experience. Experience designing, fabricating, testing, and releasing electronics and electromechanical modules for capital equipment. Semiconductor capital equipment development experience strongly desired. Background in EMC, pulsed power, FPGA/digital design, mixed‑signal circuits, DOE, PCA/B fabrication, RoHS requirements, and component qualification. Hands‑on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., OrCAD, Mentor Graphics/PADS). Familiarity with PLM and component management tools (e.g., Oracle Agile, AVCOM, Silicon Expert). Knowledge of high‑volume manufacturing documentation, BOM management, ECO processes, vendor interfacing, and prototyping logistics. Demonstrated ability to manage schedules and deliverables in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment. Strong analytical, communication, and customer‑facing skills. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. SkillsExpertise in electrical and electromechanical design for complex capital equipment. Strong leadership and team‑building capabilities. Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and technical reporting. Skilled in schematic design, PCB layout, and simulation tools (OrCAD, PADS, pSpice, MATLAB, etc.). Ability to balance hands‑on engineering with delegation and oversight. Strength in cross‑functional communication and collaboration. Experience with structured product development processes and gated design cycles. Adept at resource planning, prioritization, and project coordination. Problem‑solving creativity with a track record of resolving complex design challenges. Knowledge of engineering best practices, design rules, and process improvement. Other Information This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA.  It requires onsite presence to
