We're seeking an experienced Japanese Equity Strategist to join our Equity Strategy team. Within the BI Equity Strategy team, you will be part of a global research initiative aimed at positioning Bloomberg Intelligence at the forefront of equity investing and thought leadership. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of contributing to or leading a successful equity strategy franchise in a client-facing role, with an established institutional following familiar with their research. This individual should be hands-on across the research process, including idea generation, data aggregation, model development and writing research. Experience engaging with media and public speaking is highly valued. As a member of the BI Equity Strategy team, you will take ownership of the Japanese equity research agenda, leading data aggregation and model development while generating creative, high-impact research products tailored to an institutional client base. You will also serve as a key external voice on the Japanese equity outlook through media appearances and public speaking engagements. In addition, the role offers significant cross-company exposure, with opportunities to collaborate across Bloomberg, including with BI Marketing, Core Product, and Bloomberg Index Services Limited (BISL). We'll trust you to: Develop scalable, repeatable Japanese equity research products that integrate fundamental, technical and quantitative perspectives, tailored for a sophisticated institutional client base. Coverage includes, but is not limited to, Japanese equity index valuation and earnings analysis, as well as sector and industry research spanning earnings, valuations, and investor sentiment. Design and build innovative models and analytical frameworks that enhance the Bloomberg Intelligence equity research franchise. Own the full lifecycle of model development, including idea generation, specification, training, validation, implementation, and the supporting research narrative. Produce timely, ad hoc research on compelling and topical developments in the Japanese equity market, delivering clear insights and differentiated perspectives Serve as a prominent external voice on the outlook for Japanese equities across Bloomberg’s media platforms, including regular appearances on Bloomberg TV and other Bloomberg media properties. Represent the team’s views to a broad institutional client base through travel, including presenting at client meetings, industry conferences, and keynote speaking engagements. Partner closely with Core Product and Bloomberg Index Services Limited (BISL) on Japanese equity data, terminal functionality, and the development of new Bloomberg-branded indices. You'll need to have: At least 5 years of experience covering equity markets, preferably in a strategy or research-focused role Proficiency in econometric and statistical modeling techniques, with hands-on experience applying them to financial markets Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline Demonstrated ability to analyze complex datasets and extract meaningful insights to inform investment conclusions Familiarity with machine learning methodologies and their application within a financial context. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Strong interest in financial markets and a clear commitment to building a career in equity strategy research Fluency in both written and verbal Japanese and English High attention to detail, with well-developed research and analytical capabilities Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization We'd love to see: Experience using the Bloomberg Terminal and familiarity with its functionality and data ecosystem Demonstrated track record of developing analytical models, ideally accompanied by published research, focused on Japanese equity earnings, valuations, or market outlooks Programming skills in Python High attention to detail, with well-developed research and analytical capabilities Life at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull.
