ATR - Internship 2027 - Impact of input errors on takeoff performance and prototyping of an algorithm for detection
Airbus · Toulouse Area
Job description
Job Description: Want to join the ATR adventure? An internship opportunity has just opened on our site in Blagnac In 2025, ATR has been awarded the Happy Trainees label. 94.3% of students recommend our company after their work-study or internship. What we will do together: Being an apprentice at ATR means being integrated into a team as a full member with a real scope of intervention and responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills and experience within a market leading company! Detailed description of the mission The flight physics “Aircraft performance and weight” department is in charge of, among other things, the generation of performance data (low and high speed) for all ATR aircrafts. In the context of the TOPAAS project (Take-Off Performance Awareness and Alerting System), ATR is developing a system to reinforce take-off operations safety. This work is done in the frame of the future EASA regulation about take-off performance events prevention and implementation of TOPMS (Take-Off Performance Monitoring System)-like functionalities. This internship objective is to analyze the impact of the main input errors on take-off performance and to deduce an algorithm able to anticipate these errors. The internship will take place in 2 big steps: 1. Study of input errors impacts on take-off performance At first, the intern will perform an analysis of the different events considered in EASA’s TOPMS to evaluate their impact on aircraft performance for ATR aircrafts. This activity will include non-exhaustively: The comprehension of the regulatory and operational context of the TOPMS events, The identification of the different input errors which can affect take-off performance (weight, atmospheric conditions, etc.), The evaluation of these errors impact on take-off distances for key parameters. 2. Development of TOPMS aircraft performance algorithm first blocks In a second time, the intern will participate in the development of the first blocks of a model which can estimate expected take-off performance from aircraft and environmental parameters. This activity will include non-exhaustively: The definition of parameters and data necessary for the computation, The implementation of algorithm to detect delta between expected and real performance, The completion of first computations on representative cases. To complete this activity, the intern will work in the Aircraft Performance and Weight team in closed collaboration with Aircraft and Engine Models Development and Aircraft Systems teams. This internship is designed for you Engineering student or equivalent education with specialization in aeronautics Final year internship Knowledge of aircraft performance and flight mechanics Knowledge in model and data analysis Knowledge in Python will be highly appreciated Analytical mind, scientific rigor and autonomy Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary team French and/or English fluent Calendar Starting date: First quarter of 2027 Duration of 6 months How does the recruitment process work? The recruitment process takes place in two stages after receiving your application: Analysis of your resume Technical interview with your internship supervisor: Last step of the process you are almost there! Etienne Carof will contact you for a validation interview. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
